Swimming goggles + 5 yo. What's the knack?

5yo DD has just started swimming lessons. She has the appropriate sized goggles, but the strap always ends up under her ears, pulling the goggles downwards. I used to swim a lot, so know how to position them on myself, iyswim. But any tips for fitting on a 5yo?

No tips but my 5 year old DS has issues with goggles too!
He positions the strap so it folds his ears in half which just makes me laugh every time I look at him!

Is she putting them around her neck first then pulling them up to put on? I remember that happening with my dcs and would often have that under the ears with the strap thing then goggles would slide off soon after. Best way I found was to get them to put them on eyes first then pull strap over head. One of the brands also do an adjustable strap that you just pull which is very handy for 5 year olds, might be zoggs or speedo.

You have to have them tight, much tighter than seems reasonable.

What tiger said. They hold the goggles over their eyes while you stretch the strap over their head.

Cheap goggles are difficult for kids to control. I would recommend a Substantial pair as being less slippy.

Are they supposed to be wearing goggles? My daughter wants them but for some reason I thought they weren't really advised.

Eyes first thing - and does she wear. hat?

Zigging seal goggles are awesome for kids - I put them on them with strap very loose - get them to hold them over eyes then tighten - as above quite tight! Gilts pony tails tend to cause issues to - have found low plait or bunches so strap I not forced into wrong place by a hair bobble.

I might look into them - I think my daughter would like them as she often mentions them. I think her swim school was a bit anti... but that wouldn't stop her using them with me!

Mine didn't have them in her last lessons but used them with us - just changed lessons and now they use them. I'm not sure what proper advice is!!

I have googled zigging seal goggles, and not much sense came up. Can you link please? My dd lost hers at the pool at the weekend, so I need to get her some new ones.

Yes I tried tight, but she's left with very red rings around the eyes.

Aqua sphere seal gogles are fab! Quite large around the eyes. They don't go into the eye socket if you see what I mean!

My daughter likes some zoggs kids ones she's seen at the pool. For under 6s I think. She's four. Would they be ok?

My ds refuses to go swimming with out his goggles and then wears them on his forehead for the entire length of his lesson. He refuses to put them on properly for his teacher, but was really upset and worried when I said if he wasn't wearing them he didn't need to take them with him. It doesn't affect me, so he can wear them on the top of his head....
