Dd aged 6 has said she would like to start collecting stamps.

Is she too young? She's got good fine motor skills and loves doing crafty stuff.

What should I buy to start her off?

One of mine started aged about 7, kept it up for years, and still has all the stuff under the bed.

We bought a basic stamp albumn from WHSmiths, and a packet of those sticky things to put them on with.

She wrote the name of each country at the top of each page, and we didn't worry too much about keeping in sets or whatever. Probably didn't do it the 'proper' way but she really enjoyed it.

We asked friends and family for stamps, but also bought some of the packets from the charity shops. Oxfam do a good selection normally.

Your daughter might like to 'specialise', perhaps in stamps with animals, or she could collect other ones and stick the animals ones in a separate albumn.
