east london kodaly/colourstrings classes?

That's it really. I would prefer not to have to drag the kids for an hour on public transport to north london so does anyone know of.suitable musicianship classes for 2 &4 year olds in east london? Tia

Don't think there are physical classes but have a look at the little Musician software by brillkids.com it is based on kodaly and can be done at home, much more convenient. I looked at a colourstrings class in London for toddlers, it looked like fun and the people were very nice but i really didn't think it looked like sth you should do a 30min commute for.

You could look at Kodaly classes at the Guildhall school (Kindergarten strings training or sth like that) but you need to sign up years in advance so that may be difficult as well!!

I was the op and the closest i could find was a one to one session in a windowless room in hackney. It was too odd/intense for my son and the travel inconvenient so we abandoned that after the taster session. We tried putting names down for various places including the guildhall & colourstrings but the waiting lists are massive. The guildhall must require names down within hours of birth! Anyway we discovered a musicianship class at the latymer school in edmonton for reception kids starting after the first half term so we are waiting to see what that is like. A friend's ds does the colourstrings and likes it but they are strict about missing classes so it sounded a bit serious for us. Let us know what you decide to do.

Kodaly method is Hungarian and all Hungarian primary teachers are taught to teach by this method. Google "Hungarian school London", "magyar iskola London" and you will find teachers, lesson... My daughter attends Hungarian School in St Albans and the music lessons are based on Kodaly method. She can already read music and play the recorder (she is 5yo) and we started to practice first songs to play (Twinkle, twingle, Grand old duke, There's a hole in my pocked...). I observed that when they practice at the Hungarian school she learns the songs much faster for she remembers both the hand signs and the height of the signs.

I am also looking for classes in East London. Please can I get details of the Hackney course that's been mentioned on this thread so I can give that a go. My little one is currently 16 months old and she's been using Little Musician (brillkids) since she was 6 months. I am very keen to encourage her interest in music and roehampton is basically in the opp direction to us and quite far really. Plus, colourstrings are really oversubscribed.

I'm looking for something based on the Kodaly/colourstrings method in east London too. Currently going to Muswell Hill which is too far!
