Is it possible to have 2 teachers?

My dd has a scholarship at school, and one of the conditions of the scholarship is that she has to have lessons at school.

She has just got a scholarship to junior conservatoire and she has to have lessons there.

Can someone have two teachers? Part of me thinks it's a good thing, double the opportunities, training, ideas etc.

But what if they have different ways of doing things, would it be too difficult?

No way.

Neither teacher would agree (unless she is doing say jazz piano with one and normal with another but even so). JD would never allow it either.

I would speak to school , they usually like having children going to JDs.

May be she can do her second instrument/or take new one up at school?

I have a friend whose DD has an violin exhibition at his school AND has lessons with a private teacher. That works because the private teacher is happy with her role which is to let the school take the lead and for her to support the DD in practicing what the school says.

However, in your case both parties will expect to be the primary teacher. You could not reveal the existence of the other party to each other and, as the other poster has suggested, pursue different styles so that there is no cross contamination technique-wise.

It sounds like a very bad idea. I would speak to the school about her having lessons in another instrument instead, or theory classes or something?
