Hi. As far as I know, this is based upon the Heine poem Der Beiden Greadiere. This is a German poem, so translations differ but there is a good one www.classicalconnect.com/Baritone/Schumann/Beiden_Grenadiere/1866

If it is to be sung, she will probably need a different set of lyrics which will have been changed to fit the original music. You can download an print that at

www.musicnotes.com/sheetmusic/mtdFPE.asp?ppn=MN0043983
Hope that helps.

Thanks BFP. Her teacher was singing along the other day - 'there once were 2 grenadiers......' This is for the piece taken from a Suzuki book. The wording is important because of the technical elements being taught with this piece.

May just have to wait for teacher to supply words.
