She is asleep & has been asleep for ages. But I'm all worked up about driving in the fog

But I am proud of her

Yay. Well done your DD.

My DD gave up all her dancing in January - even her Ballroom! Am a little sad, but she has moved on to a stage school, where they are learning all aspects of stage craft, which is a good thing, imo. She is a belting little singer though.

She is rehearsing for Christmas shows at school, and her rendition of White Christmas has me blubbing.

Drive safe, slow and steady will get you home.

winnybella · 20/11/2011 21:40

Well done, KatyMac's DD Smile

KatyMac · 20/11/2011 21:42

Sorry I'm home now; I just have residual angst Grin

It was worth going so far I guess; she has qualified for Blackpool

Can't imagine DD giving up dance, I can see her giving up theatre tho'

Glee is about to go next I think, but I could be wrong

KatyMac · 20/11/2011 22:30

2gorgeousboys · 22/11/2011 21:42

Ooh Katy your DD is gorgeous. What comp was she dancing in?

KatyMac · 22/11/2011 21:45

The one in the photo was Blackpool (National Finals) the one from this thread was in Castleford

NeatFreak · 22/11/2011 21:47

Wow, well done Smile
My dd has qualifiers for Blackpool (street) next weekend and i think I am more nervous than she is... she made it this year so hopefully will be Ok for next year too!

KatyMac · 22/11/2011 21:56

DD has qualified for next year (Blackpool finals for this year were only 2 weeks ago)

2gorgeousboys · 22/11/2011 22:04

Well done to you both!

DS1 danced in Blackpool last year at the Nationals for IDTA Medallist of the year for Ballroom and Latin. He has also qualified for Ballroom for next year and DS1 and DS2 are both competing next Sunday. DS1 for his Latin qualifier and DS2 is doing his first Star Dance competition. I will be an emotional wreck next weekend.

KatyMac · 22/11/2011 22:07

Will they be in Blackpool at Easter? DD qualified IDTA's Blackpool in September
This comp was for ISTD's Blackpool

OP posts:
2gorgeousboys · 22/11/2011 22:08

Yes DS1 will definately be in Blackpool at Easter, hoping DS2 will qualify on Sunday and be dancing their too.

2gorgeousboys · 22/11/2011 22:09

there not their obviously Hmm

KatyMac · 22/11/2011 22:10

Should we have a MN meet-up?

Do you know any spare boy for DD....she is very good (PFBx1,000,000,000,000)

OP posts:
KatyMac · 22/11/2011 22:11

We haven't done IDTA before so we don't know the set up

DD appears to be doing 10 dances (is that normal?) & we don't know the dress code for IDTA either

OP posts:
2gorgeousboys · 22/11/2011 22:15

Where are you based Katy? DS1 has only been dancing 2 years and did Blackpool this year for the first time so I'm not exactly hot on it myself (especially as DH and I both have 2 left feet!!) 10 dances is what DS1 did and there was no dress code for boys apart from no tail coats but not sure about girls. How old is your DD?

KatyMac · 22/11/2011 22:18

She is 14 (yesterday) & has been dancing a good while; but boys are like hens teeth and very valuable

DH being a dance teacher is a nice hook if we can find a partner for her (lessons are at venue cost & as often as they can manage)

But it's tricky

OP posts:
KatyMac · 22/11/2011 22:20

Whoops - we are in Norfolk

OP posts:
OtterHumbjug · 22/11/2011 22:22

Katy I've been looking out for you. Does your DD still need dresses? There's a lady near Norwich who used to make ballroom and latin dresses professionally, she's retired now but would like to do 'the odd one'.

I think that's near you. If I've confused you with someone else, please forgive me.

KatyMac · 22/11/2011 22:24

OtterHumbjug - thanks so much for remembering I am near Norwich

But if you look on my profile, you will see the dress I made & hopefully it looks OK
