Used Piano - should I expect to get any paperwork for it?

The update to an earlier post about buying a piano is that we have bought a one year old used one which we were told came with a 5yr guarantee.
It was delivered without any paperwork which I was told was caught up in a clog Hmm

I would expect that I should get at least a receipt for payment and something indicating the guarantee. Is there anything else I should reasonably expect?

Did you buy privately or I assume from business? You need to get a receipt and find out exactly what your guarantee covers (any exclusions re radiators behind piano etc). You also want it noted on receipt year of manufacture etc...

If you bought a 1 year old used one from a shop, I would want to know it's history (very very many mis-sold pre-owned pianos sold to public, as difficult to tell 15 year old piano that has being well looked after from 1 year old). Mis-sold pianos often described as ex-demo or a vague couple of years old!

Am in piano trade (but not in Uk), so know a thing or two about it if you wish to pm me Wink

Bought from a piano shop and have now got receipt with serial number on it. The receipt does not mention the 5year guarantee and I have been told by the company that they would honour the oral guarantee. Also told that Kawai offer 5 year guarantee anyway, just in case company goes out of business (but they have been around for a long time).

Checks show that the piano was first sold in Feb this year so when we bought it the piano would have been about 6 months old - told owner was migrating.

Hopefully all will be well with it.
