Cricket clothes for a 5-6 year old

Hi,

My son has recently been playing a lot of cricket and I want to get him some cricket clothes (tshrt, trousers etc). Everwywhere I have looked seems to have really large sizes. Does anybody know where I can get these for little boys (5-6 years)?

John Lewis sell cricket stuff but the trousers are loooooooooooong. You have to cut the legs off. I'm not sure how small the tops go though.

John Lewis is good or try somewhere like Gunn & Moore and see if they do direct order. DS2 is 8 but small and he's got whites so they are out there. You tend to buy the trousers by waist measurement and cut them off, they come unfinished and with that iron up stuff and won't fray. The shirts may look big as they are always quite a bit longer at the back than the front, not sure why.

but aren't all cricket trousers overly long ?

The bottoms of the trousers are only overlocked though. I think you are meant to take them up yourself (not that I ever got round to this).

Checking a couple of online places, a small boys size is 20-21 inch waist. We have always found they come with drawstring waists, so they can last more than one season.

I know John Lewis sell them, ds has to have a set for school so I've been looking for somewhere cheaper then the school shop everywhere.

thx for all the suggestions everybody. did get him a jumper from sportsdirect which was the only thing that fit - i think it is because it is stretchy but it its size 7-8. ordered some gunn and moore stuff from millet sport - the smallest sizes that I could and the tshirt and trousers are literally double his size. I didnt event try the trousers - maybe they do fit the waist and i just have to cut the length in half - which seems really silly.

well what would you know it - the trousers were unfinished ut with the drawstrings looks like it may fit him. now i just need to get him a tshirt at least that fits.

Your son will need mini size, or possibly small boys. My 3 yr old has a bat, pads etc from there and his 6 year old cousin has the whole kit, so they do cater for really little boys.

Just looked at Decathlon -they go down to age 8 size for cricket stuff. Is he a big size?

A white polo shirt would be acceptable and are very readily available, it's the trousers that are more "obvious" iykwim.

white polo/ T-shirt would do just fine, It is possible to find long sleeve white polos at school uniform shops or screen printers. The collar is good for protecting back of neck from sun.

Don't put him in a white polo shirt they look truly awful with cricket gear!
