I want to know what they do in sea cadets. Is it ok for a girl she is a shy, quiet girl. I have spoken to someone in the local cadet group but want to know what happens for 2 hours. We have been told to come to the next class .does anyones dc go to the cadets.

DH used to help out at sea cadets. They would basically have an hour of learning knots/ bits about boats/ sea signs/ navigation/ a bit of marching up and down the deck/ sailing and rowing.

there were definitely girls in his group who seemed to enjoy it and there were a few female helpers. If she's keen it is certainly worth going and trying it out. They do take it a bit seriously and expect regular attendance. I think sea scouts are similar but a bit more relaxed.
