Can anyone recommend a good book for learning keyboard / piano from scratch?

Um, title says it all really. We have a five octave keyboard in the house, which my mum and dad gave me. I can read music a bit (school level, really) and used to play guitar. Dd asked today if she could learn to play the "piano" but
a) - I can't afford lessons atm
b) - I don't know if she really wants to learn, or if this is just a passing phase.

I'd like something which shows us where to put our fingers, and gives us some easy tunes to try :-)
Is that kind of thing available?

Yes, I got a couple of books from Amazon, one Hal Leonard Piano Lessons and one Pauline Hall Piano Time. Of the two the Pauline Hall works much better imo - it's more standard musical notation so you'll be able to help her, whereas the Hal Leonard books start with his own system which may be good, but is a bit confusing for an adult helper.
Neither of them cost very much - if you browse around Amazon you should be able to find something suitable for a fiver or so.

we have one with a frog - Chester's Easiest Piano Course

Can't say what iti s like, dd just wanted to know where to put her fingers (isn't learning piano/keyboard though) and she liked it. I didn't get involved at all.

here

cheap and cheerful and she managed fine with it (aged about 8 I think at the time)

DS2 did piano and they all used the 'Me and my piano' series by Waterman and Harewood. Parts 1 & 2 (Two separate books)

It's used by lots of teachers so there are usually quite a few on eBay.

It's really good - easy to follow and there is an achievement certificate at the end.

How old is DD?
