Would anyone like to start C25K in the New Year that needs some time to get your head together?

I've done this before and am planning on restarting in January. I've gained some weight and lost some fitness but realistically now is not the time to start.

However I'm not one for last minute things and my head needs to get itself in the right place (and plan a diet). So with this in mind over Christmas and New Year I'm starting in January.

Anyone care to join me?

Me please! This probably sounds a bit ridiculous/up myself but the first few days are a bit "easy" so I get bored and stop, no way I could run a 5K though so I need the motivation to get past the first bit to the more challenging part (probably day 7, haha)

I’ll join. Realistically I won’t be starting until 10 Jan though as kids not in school till then. I will be aiming to start at around week 4 or 5 of the programme as I got to week 6/7 back in Oct and then stopped due to back issues (now fine). Hope it’s ok to join even if not starting at the beginning? Definitely need some accountability!

I'm considering this

I have to do a beep test in spring!

Have completed it before a few times and enjoy the journey

It would be lovely if we could cajole and encourage, share our progress and struggles.

And anyone else who would like to start the new year with a plan!

Me!! Been meaning to start since September 😂

Me! I've done it before but I'll be doing it again.
So basically first time round I underestimated it, and I didn't realise I would need to repeat some of the weeks twice or thrice over, so ladies don't beat yourself up if you need to repeat a week or 2 a few times. But what I will say is if you can stick to it. And force yourself to go out 3 times a week, I guarantee you you will feel so much better! (And lose some weight!)

I came looking for a couch to 5k thread because I want to start tomorrow. I’m the opposite in that if I wait I won’t do it 😂

I highly doubt that I am capable of inspiring anyone, I’m going to look like a drunk hyena trying to do the foxtrot 😂

@Gnomegnomegnome did you do it? 😀

I did! First thing before work in the pouring rain!
I was shocked at how okay it was apart from the stupid dog who thought that it would be funny to keep trying to trip me up (She probably wondered wtf we were running from).
Last time I tried (gave up after two runs) I struggled to breathe but I was fine today! I went really slow.

My trainers cut my feet so need new ones but I plan to go again on Thursday. I don’t want to wear my nice gym ones but think I have some others somewhere that should do for now.

I go to the gym Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning so thought I would do Tuesday, Thursday and either Saturday or Sunday ‘run’. 😐

Me! I did quite a bit of it earlier in the year, but then was ill and had to stop for a few weeks and didnt get back into it.

However, I really hate the cold, so not sure that my good intentions will come to much on a freezing January morning!

I'd love to join as well please.

I've done C25K a couple of times before, it definitely works.

@Gnomegnomegnome wow go you!! In the rain too. Seriously impressed.. please send some of your determination this way..

Everyone else please do join!

It's less than 3 weeks now til the New Year starts. Although I won't be determinedly trying to lose weight or exercise for those 3 weeks I will aim for some damage limitation. But then that's it.

I'll be aiming to be healthier first and foremost, but losing some lardage will also be in there.

Can I join too? I started a couple of weeks ago and am
now on week 2 run 3 which I hope to do on Friday. It’s been better than I thought it would be so far. The later weeks seem like a huge step up though!

I am a total beginner, have been trying to get fitter since September, but am aware of how rubbish I am at cardio stuff when I go to the gym. I did the first 2 runs on the treadmill, but the rest outside which I much prefer.

I have to keep trying to go slowly and remember to breathe!

Hello @OfDragonsDeep !

Well done.. someone else starting a new regime in the run up to Christmas.

You are totally right about going slowly. I completed it around a year ago and was never able to do more than a steady trundle.. but I did manage to do 5k and so will you.

I'm an expert procrastinator I constantly tell myself after the weekend, after this event, after Christmas, after New Year. Just actually starting is for me almost the biggest battle.

But I do plan to join you!

@Houseplanter i always find this time of year hard with the lack of light and outside time, so I wanted to do something positive this year to see if it helps. I tend to get sucked into creating a ‘perfect Christmas’, but never feeling like I’ve managed it.

It’s nice to have something else to focus on and I am so proud of myself for running (well going slightly faster than walking 😂)

Ive also given up alcohol and am trying to eat a bit better.

You should get going now and then you’ll be 3 weeks in by the New Year!!

Yes! Keen for this!
I had a baby this year and just haven't found the mental space to get myself back to movement yet!
