Well done Waiting and good luck getting back into the running groove!
Short easy run this morning. Had rubbish sleep & had to take DD2 on her paper round in the car as too icy to cycle. So now feeling a bit more like myself! Need coffee badly though! Merry Christmas all.

Merry Christmas everyone.
Not going to get a run in now before Christmas. Got both sides of family coming tomorrow so will definitely need a Boxing Day run!!

Happy Christmas Running everyone Xmas Smile hope you all get some cool running gifts. I’ve got some running books hopefully under the tree for inspirational reading. I’m having a few days off running then if the weather is good I’ll try a long run Friday.

IRun4Me · 26/12/2019 13:17

Went for a short run after too much turkey and wine yesterday Grin Thought I’d try out my Christmas present from the dog - a new running lead. Decided as I was out and soaked I’d keep going so I managed to achieve my year’s target of 500m/800km. So very pleased and happy now.

Well done IRun! Wee run in muddy forest with DH this afternoon, an exercise in sanity for us both!

TriSkiRun99 · 27/12/2019 11:25

Well done irun it’s great to hit yout target Xmas Smile.

Went for a long run this morning, even though my legs and body were feeling very sluggish from too much sugar. Started off thinking do 6m, then pushed it to 8m, found a mini 2nd wind and got to just over 10miles in the end. The last mile there was suddenly lots of people up and about so I was keen to get home then. Off for walk with kids now before a sofa and jigsaws afternoon.

Well done @IRun4Me on your target, that’s fab.

Had a lovely long run this morning running off 2 days of over indulgence but still got 23 miles till I hit my target and only 4 days left.

emummy · 29/12/2019 11:26

Good luck hitting the target Paddington! I don’t usually have a target, just take a look at the end of the year and see where I am. This year I am now at 1093 miles so I might try for another 7 before Tuesday night! We’ll see...
Lovely run this morning on country roads although a bit on the windy side, made all the hills feel like mountains! Time for cake!

PaddingtonPaddington · 29/12/2019 18:22

Also a windy run here and put a bit of effort in for a faster run but the flip side is it was shorter.

Well done on the yearly mileage @emummy

IRun4Me · 30/12/2019 16:37

Well done emummy that is an impressive number. I’ve never kept a total before but I started this year when I did RED January and kept it going. I did find it a good motivator especially in December!
How are you getting on with yours paddington?
A short run this morning post a party last night so was very hard work

Another 8 miles done today and I’m pretty certain I won’t get out tomorrow so my final total is 1140 miles, just 10 miles short but impressed with myself for doing nearly twice last years mileage.

Really enjoyed my run today, the sun was shining and I just seemed to fly along without thinking too much. If only I didn’t have a full time job I could get so much more running in! I’m loving my time off.

@IRun4Me I’ve signed up for RED January 2020.

Great work Paddington, very impressive mileage. Lovely run in frosty sunshine with DH this morning & hit 1100 for the year! Had to run in circles outside the house for the last 0.08 miles!
Happy New Year everyone when it comes.

RED Jan #1 social club run with lots of talking and no looking at the watch. Lovely weather too.

Happy 2020 everyone. Just one race entered for this year so far and it’s a 50K (what was I thinking!) Anyone else got a 2020 goal?

ParkRun done today early foggy drizzly one which I only did because my daughter wanted to. She hasn’t run since May and goes and knocks 30sec off her PB Hmm oh to be young with springy legs again! I ran my fastest time in last 6mths only to not get it “logged” as we had so many folk turn up there was a queue to get into the finishers funnel! Poor volunteers were trying their hardest to hussle folk through. 3.5m in total. Happy NY running everyone. I don’t RunED but I do exercise every day for RED January.

First run of the New Years, just around town but saved from boredom by watching the sky as the sun came up. Good luck to all doing RED January.

Can I join? I’ve signed myself up for park run and also the Windsor Women’s 10K in September. I have decided to make this year my year of running. First run of the year will be tomorrow, so currently 0. Are your numbers in miles or km? I understand km better but will use miles if that’s what’s required in this thread.

emummy · 03/01/2020 10:07

Welcome Strandliv! Good luck with your first run. I don't know how fit you are or if you've run before so be kind to yourself and don't go too fast. I hope you enjoy it. Parkrun is great and a good motivator for getting up on a Saturday morning! I'm afraid the total is in miles, but a rough approximation is fine, it doesn't need to be accurate to 4 decimal places or anything!
I am feeling lazy today, meant to get up and run with the dog but had a lie in instead. So off to walk the dog and take ds shopping. Will try to run this afternoon.

PaddingtonPaddington · 03/01/2020 14:23

Welcome @Strandliv great you are running. The total is a collective cumulative total of all our running in miles. Good luck we’ve all been there and good that you have some goals to work towards.

Forced myself out in the dark and pouring rain before work and got both feet went in a massive puddle within the first minute! RED Jan is going to be a long month...

Strandliv · 03/01/2020 14:53

Thank you @emummy and @PaddingtonPaddington for the welcome. I’m not a complete beginner but I’m not an experienced runner at all. I’m a regular gym goer. I have run in the past (maximum distance 5km), but I fell out with it when I developed plantar fasciitis after taking part in the moonwalk last year. I feel recovered now and am able to run on the treadmill but will definitely take it easy on pavements for a while, it’s why I went for park run, thought it might be more cushioning on my foot. The Windsor 10km is something for me to aim for. I start my 2020 year of running tomorrow and look forward to logging my miles on the end of my posts.

IRun4Me · 03/01/2020 16:36

Welcome strandliv and good luck with getting back in to it.
Went out this morning before I let myself get distracted. I agree paddington at the moment it feels like RED January is going to be a long old month.

ParkRun sandwich this morning 13k. Tried out new trainers as finally found some that fit! After training multiple ones, ended up in Saucony everrun mens (nice & wide) which have a different profile to my current NB so it will be interesting to see how it affects my foot/calf niggle. Will need to alternate between them I think to start with, plus have some trail shoes coming Monday Smile spent all my Xmas £s on running shoes and a new swim cossie.

Welcome those starting out, there was a large turnout again at ParkRun. I’ve slightly scared myself by writing out a training guide to hit a marathon in May that I’ve quietly entered. I’m doing a Feb Half and building from there, I average 60m a month at present but im gonna have to get up to 100-120m a month in March/April to get the training in which is rather daunting! I won’t run it if I risk getting injured but I’ll be super happy just to get up to a 20m run. Anyone else targeting a spring marathon? This will be my first (& last..I expect).
