Physio went well, cleared to up mileage or intensity. However I find I can’t run for a few days after a proper massage so not taken advantage yet.

Had a glorious 7m trail run this morning including a good few hills, definitely feel ready to have longer runs again.

Steady wee trot around town this morning. But grey but lovely autumn colours cheered it up.

Between self-isolating (kids had fever/cough) and niggly hip, my mileage is a bit lower this week. Any thoughts on when I should start to think about seeing a physio? My hip is more uncomfortable rather than really painful but it's I feel like it starts to affect my gait after a couple of miles and it's been an issue for nearly 2 weeks now. Just wondering whether I need to start considering physio or stop running completely for a period and focus on stretching and strengthening?

Sorry your hip is giving you bother @totatola. I'm afraid I can't advise as I'm still a bit of a running novice.

Speaking of injuries though, I went out on Monday and have reawoken a knee injury I had years ago. I ended up out of action for a long time. I don't think it's quite as bad this time but is still pretty painful. Very, very frustrating.

I have a niggly ankle but cannot offer anyone advice either...

Just 3m today as busy day.

Physio sounds like a plan totatola. Do you warm up before running? I’ve found that to be really helpful, along with regular strength training and foam rolling. A physio can give you some guidance on what you may need to strengthen. A few days rest is a good idea too

Amaura · 09/11/2020 07:58

Agree with @emummy there. Although if it’s only been two weeks, be aware If they can’t easily spot the issue they may just say let’s see how it goes. The key is getting the right muscle supporting or realignment exercises.

@pepperminttaste Have you been icing your knee?

(Not) parkrun attempt yesterday. DD, DS and DH all managed to get PBS. I ran with DD. It was DS’s first time running by himself so we enjoyed waving manically every time we crossed (there are four laps). DH then set off 2 mins after DS so he was roughly in the middle with DH catching up.

Followed by another 5km ish for me in the evening. The

I iced my knee after the run but haven't since. Maybe I should have!

emummy · 10/11/2020 09:20

Intervals this morning, just took a notion to do some, and rather enjoyed it! Grey & gloomy day here, hope it brightens up.

Have had week off running, lots of walking and biking instead. Back to it this morning. Not a usually a morning runner but the lack of light and cancellation of my running groups in the evening has meant a rethink.

PaddingtonPaddington I have found it is nice for me running at different times of day - keeps things interesting and fresh.

Teeny tiny run today as little time today 165.6

T shirt run this morning, lovely mild weather. Needed the head torch, especially for the forest paths!

Morning all. Not disappeared but in quarantine. This is going to be the longest 2 weeks of my life. I can’t believe how much I am missing my running or even dog walking. Especially when everything is so stressful. But at least I’m not poorly and can count the days down.
totatola I had niggling hip pain that actually turned out to be caused by my back. Saw someone who sorted me out and gave me specific stretches/exercises which really helped. So keep an eye on it.

That’s so frustrating IRun. I hope you stay well and get set free in 2 weeks.

Amaura · 12/11/2020 21:18

Sorry to hear that @IRun4Me

Two slightly faster 7 miles plus a 4 miler that stopped at a chip shop.

Need to be good about doing my exercises now and will enjoy some gentle miles this weekend

Windy wet 10 mile run with a friend.

Have been doing strength work and running around the very small garden a few times (very boring).
But using the time wisely to buy new gear. Can never have too many leggings or jackets in my opinion!!

Excellent use of time IRun!
Hilly damp run in the forest today, went a route I hadn't done for a while and oh my word, the hills! Survived though. Planning to do trail runs at the weekends from now on & build my stamina.
