Number 14 now full up. I don’t think a new one has been started yet?
November total 191.1. (I think)

There are a couple of races in November etc year, one is 31-33 miles(?) and the other 36.5. I’m leaning towards the first one as the longer one has registration at 4 am!
Well done on your milestone Amaura.

PaddingtonPaddington · 19/10/2020 20:49

One ultra is end of January and is 48 miles but think it’s too soon and might be really muddy that time of year. The other is in May and 51 miles which is more realistic time of year/training schedule but has a stupidly early start. Both are significantly longer than the one I did earlier this year (32miles). Still dithering and that’s of course if they go ahead.

Intervals tonight

It’s the early start I don’t like! Although I guess you need a whole day to finish! I want to do one later in the year so I don’t have to do long training runs in the dark

emummy · 20/10/2020 07:41

First properly dark run this morning, a bit damp but nice & mild. Much happier with my reflective gilet.

I’m very impressed with those planning ultra marathons.
A couple of runs to add. Today’s was really quite warm once out. Not been out in the dark yet but won’t be long.

Wettest run of the year! Rain was bouncing off the road, am absolutely soaked through. Got home & realised I hadn’t seen anyone else the whole time - so I’m either really tough or mad!

IRun4Me · 22/10/2020 13:12

Definitely tough (and mad) emummy
I went out this morning and it wasn’t meant to rain. Then I ended up with sideways rain blowing across the flat landscape and no shelter atall. But strangely it was an enjoyable run.

emummy and IRun sounds like you both had interesting wet runs.

Windy & drizzly this morning but not cold. Got some weird looks running through the rain in my t shirt! Loving the autumn colours just now, even grey days are beautiful.

Fairly calm morning run today. Went further than I have before as well!

I think I need new running shoes.. I've had them for years, my ankles are starting to give me bother and my second toes now often hurt. I'm not sure about buying them online though but then it could be a long time before I'm able to/want to go all the way to Edinburgh for an appointment at Run4it.

Any thoughts?

emummy · 24/10/2020 14:20

If you know what sort of shoes you need - neutral, support etc & how much cushioning & heel drop suit you, then buying online is fine. I have worn the same shoes for years, I usually get last year’s slightly cheaper model on www.sportsshoes.com.

pepperminttaste · 24/10/2020 15:09

Thanks for the link @emummy

I'll have a look at the shoes I have now (in terms of heel drop, etc) and maybe see what there is that is similar.

IRun4Me · 24/10/2020 18:05

peppermint I always buy mine on line now. The same as emummy I do try and buy last years. I like brooks and you can return them if they aren’t right. Definitely replace them if you had them ages.
Tired run this morning. It was fine but not the best. But I did it.

Hi all, I've been reading this thread on and off for so long but never seem to have time to post! Thought it was about time I said hi! I'd like to add my mileage to the running total, is it OK if I add my October mileage to date?

emummy · 24/10/2020 21:41

Absolutely totatola, the more the merrier! Just add it to the 315 above. Welcome!

totatola · 24/10/2020 21:51

Thanks emummy! I'm on 69.8 for the months so far, so new total...

Great running totatola.!
New route for me this morning, up a hill by the next village. Lovely route through different types of forest & fun running down steep hills. Nice to be somewhere new. Very wet feet though!

Struggled with time to run this week as several out of hours meetings and blood donation. Enjoyed being outdoors in a hail storm as well 🙃. 21 miles to add

Supported a friend yesterday doing their first ultra, managed to catch them 5 times in various places with words of encouragement and food/drink. Looked like a lovely route so it’s on the potential list for next year too.

Chatty run with a friend this morning on a new route

Welcome totatola
Away for a few days so had a run along the beach in the sunshine. It was lovely

pepperminttaste · 26/10/2020 15:56

These runs all sound lovely! Even the one in the hail. I, on the other hand, had to gob out a fly this morning.

totatola · 26/10/2020 18:49

6 miles along the Thames path for me yesterday. Have a slight niggly hip at the moment so not going too long. Trying to do lots of stretching and icing it every now and then

Taking this week off work and so had a lovely sunny run this morning with an annoying wind. Doing a virtual cumulative 40 mile race this week.

Enjoy your week off Paddington.
Lovely sunny run this morning, really lifted my spirits.
