Ooh, that's so close OhOne. I know how you feel, I did the same in a hm and just got tipped over by 2s because I stopped to eat a jelly baby and had a wee chat instead of running with it. I was so annoyed with myself, but as you say, a time to aim for next year. Smile
Sounds like you did brilliantly though, it must be tough doing that over 3 consecutive days with tired legs for the final hm part Star

Re my post the 4.75 was the typo so final figure is correct. ( providing my maths hasn't let me down!)

familygermsareok · 22/06/2015 22:54

Hi Purpletoes , welcome to the thread.
Well done on your 5k tonight and good luck with your training for the 10ks. Keep us updated on all your running Smile

cinnamongreyhound · 23/06/2015 07:16

Sorry TriJo, missed your post from yesterday hope you heal quickly!

Welcome PurpleToes I have baby too Smile ds3 was born in April.

I think. Am adding 4 but have cracked my phone screen and that is my excuse for being rubbish at numbers.

7.4 from me 922.24 according to my calculator but I think it looks wrong!
Got a coaching session with running club tonight but not sure how I'll be able to add those miles!

AggressiveBunting · 23/06/2015 14:04

Adding a tough, hilly 7.5 to make 929.74. We had to stop at the petrol station after 7k to buy M&Ms as both felt like crap. Wasn't as hot today but the humidity is really high. Rest day tomorrow, yay!!

runtothehills · 23/06/2015 14:45

Welcome purpletoes good luck with the 10k training!

Neck much better, organising car getting fixed is a PITN though!!

6 gentle miles with a couple of friends today, last run till Sunday but will do a Metafit on Thurs. Temp was 9 degrees today, if I can get the same for the weekend I'll be happy. However then I'm asking for blistering sunshine for the start of the school holidays Grin.

Lilicat1013 · 23/06/2015 16:03

I was wondering if I could join in?

I started doing 'Zombies Run couch to 5k' which is a serious challenge, I am very, very overweight. I wont say by how much but obese. Doing the runs has been hard but I have really taken to it. When I started I could barely run a minute and now I am doing twenty minute runs easily and stopping because the app tells me to rather than because I need to.

I have started to really enjoy running, I have my final couch to 5k session two runs from now and intend to keep running after that with the regular 'zombies, run' game. I've gotten a couple of friends and my husband involved and gotten them all the sign up for a local 5k race in August.

I am very paranoid about embarrassing myself, I know I will be able to finish it but I still have my doubts I can jog and entire 5k without walking at all.

I have been enjoying reading your messages, it is interesting to hear things from proper runners who know what they are doing!

TriJo · 23/06/2015 16:33

Stick with it Lilicat1013 - you'll be absolutely fine for a 5k in August if you keep at it consistently. Can guarantee that you won't be last if you have trained for it and you won't be the biggest person there either.

TriJo · 23/06/2015 16:35

I'll also recommend adding a bit of strength training, yoga or pilates to your running - becoming stronger will help you to avoid injuries while running, a strong core really helps in general.

emummy · 23/06/2015 16:49

Well done on all your hard work so far Lilicat, it sounds like you're doing really well. August is ages away, if you keep going as you are I would think you'll have a good chance of running it all. And if you do have to walk some, that doesn't matter, you'll find there are plenty of people doing that. Races tend to have a whole mixture of different types of runner, and some, like me, are pretty slow!

runtothehills good luck this weekend. Have you seen this www.illuminatorrun.co.uk based at Glen Tanar? Don't know if it's a new thing or not, it looks like fun!

LornMowa · 23/06/2015 17:31

I'm adding my 3.6 from this morning so 939.34. It was the same route as last week but took me 6 minutes longer. I'm still feeling the effects of the 70 mile bike ride I did on Sunday. Time to take some rest days I think!

Lilicat1013 · 23/06/2015 18:08

Thank you for the support, I really appreciate it. I will look in to the additional exercises, the gym I go to offers classes so I will see what they do.

karatekimmi · 23/06/2015 18:31

lillicat I can't remember the last time I was "only" overweight! Probably 2006!! It's never stopped me running!! There is nothing wrong with walking a bit, but I'm sure if you keep on training you'll smash it!!

We went to port sunlight when DH did the liverpool half marathon Halle ( I think) it was lovely!! We are doing it next year, already booked up!!

Well done purpletoes I'm ridiculously pregnant at the minute, but still have a million years to go!! (Slight exaggeration!!) I've been planning my return, next years runs are all planned, I just need to sneeze baby out and I'll be back in no time!!

cinnamongreyhound · 23/06/2015 20:47

Hi Lilicat1013, I had a bmi of 35 when I started the couch 2 5k and I run regularly now 5st lighter. You WILL be able to run 5k!!!!! Have a think about parkrun if there's one near you Smile

5 miles from me with my club social run 944.34

Anglaise1 · 23/06/2015 21:04

Waves to all new posters, good to see you here!
Lilicat if you can run without stopping for 20 mins you are doing very well. Keep at it and you will be more than ready for your 5k, I promise.
I have a forest trail race (22kms) on Sunday then another tougher slightly longer one the following week (no real ascent but lots of running through streams and rivers) - am really looking forward to them, so much more interesting than road running and very few women doing those distances, they tend to do the shorter ones, so more chance of a podium
6.2 dog running miles yesterday and 10 miles with the club tonight.

I've been rubbish keeping up to date on here. Just trying to catch up now. Am impressed and in awe of all the achievements and sorry to hear about accidents and injuries, hope all is better soon.

Hello to Lilicat, and it sounds like you are doing fab!

I've got 3.1 parkrun and 5.1 miles from last night to add. That's my furthest run since pre-dc, feeling v chuffed. And rashly entered a 10k for this weekend on the back of last night's run. Am quite excited!

968.74

lastqueenofscotland · 23/06/2015 22:28

Another 5 miles for me with run club tonight. shattered!

973.74

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 23/06/2015 23:19

Just a little 2.7 slow recovery run from me.

Hello new runners, good to see you Smile

976.44

Neeko · 24/06/2015 07:25

3.36 from me to nicely round us up to 980 Smile

Welcome to the new additions to the thread. All miles welcome.

HalleLouja · 24/06/2015 08:29

Forgot the 5 horrid miles from Sunday. 985.

Waves at newbys and oldbys too.

AnnPerkins · 24/06/2015 12:51

Hi everyone. Just popping in to add my 2 miles from last night. Work has just got busy, which is great but also annoying because less time to MN.

987

familygermsareok · 24/06/2015 18:43

Hi Lilicat. My DS 1 tried the Zombie, Run! app the other day and loved it, he said it was great fun and definitely spurred him on to keep going Grin
Well done on all the running you've done, you are doing brilliantly. Another one here who recommends parkrun if you have one locally. It's really friendly, no pressure at all, and perfect for runners or run/walkers of all ages and abilities. And you will soon find you are managing 5k no problem Smile

Good luck with your forest trail race this weekend Anglaise, it sounds lovely.

5.3 intervals early this morning before the rain came on. I definitely got the best of the day!

987 + 5.3 = 992.3
