Hello Banging

Hope you are feeling better today lastqueen

Good to see you Poppy!

I'm a bit stiff today, and should have gone to bed sooner than I did last night, but am otherwise looking forward to the final day of my challenge Smile

lastqueenofscotland · 21/06/2015 14:13

Managed my 10k today in 54 mins so happy with that felt very tired the whole way round but happy with that time! My app said it was 6.31 miles rather than 6.2

Mine and bangings miles make 843.21

cinnamongreyhound · 21/06/2015 18:07

Perfect example of a bad run followed by a great run lastqueenofscotland!

Hope all went ok with your stiffness OhOneOhTwoOhThree!

Hi Bangingthedrums!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 21/06/2015 18:26

HM went almost to plan (I was aiming for 12 minute miles, as it's off road and undulating) and I finished in 2:42. I could have been a minute or two faster, but I stopped for a chat at the last two water stations with some other runners for some mutual encouragement, and needed a quick wee stop behind a tree towards the end as I just couldn't wait any longer Smile

But I thrashed my last year's time and I WASN'T LAST Grin Grin Grin

26.38 garmin miles = 869.59 (???)

runtothehills · 21/06/2015 18:33

Welcome banging, feel free to continue delurking Grin

Relaxed 4 miles today in the rain Smile, followed by being hit from behind in my car Sad. Feel very stiff and sore especially my neck. Need lots of stretches, ibuprofen and warm bath. At least no major harm done (me and girls ok, though car a bit worse for wear). Fingers crossed all will have settled by next weekend.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 21/06/2015 19:22

runtothehills you poor thing. Hope your neck will be OK. Our car was written off a few years ago when someone careered into me (I'd stopped at a pedestrian crossing which he hadn't noticed because he was in a hurry to get to work).

Anglaise1 · 21/06/2015 20:15

Brilliant Ohone great news that you smashed last year's performance. And have a nice bath and a big Wine or Brew to relax after the marathon weekend. You must be shattered.
Runtothehills you poor thing, I hope you are OK and it is only shock and nothing serious. I hope you feel better soon and I'm sure you'll be OK for next weekend. Flowers
Well done on your 10k lastqueen, maybe next time have a rest day before your race? It is a sort of golden rule in my club that the last run is at least 36 hours before a race and of low effort and strides only.
9,4 miles from my run this morning, plus 4 from Runtothehills =
882.99

Thank you Anglaise I am pretty shattered now, but went out for a little walk in the evening sunshine with DH to keep my legs from seizing up. I am not looking forward to getting on my bicycle tomorrow morning Grin

Anglaise1 · 21/06/2015 20:57

Ohone getting on your bike is probably one of the best recuperation exercises you can do. You'll be fine. Well done again, you should be very proud of yourself! I'd rather do one day of running steadily than 3 consecutive (and very different) races.

Well done OhOne and Lastqueen

Hope you are ok, runtothehills.

lastqueenofscotland · 21/06/2015 22:09

Runtothehills that's grim I got hit about 4 years ago it's horrid isn't it :(

TriJo · 22/06/2015 09:22

Tree root 1, TriJo 0. Tripped on one while running on Saturday and took a very heavy fall. Have loads of road rash on my shins and a nasty cut on my left hand. Nothing broken though, thankfully!

emummy · 22/06/2015 10:21

Well done ohone, a fantastic result! And you lastqueen, great stuff!
Sorry about your accident runtothehills, make sure you keep moving your neck to get rid of the stiffness.
Oh dear TriJO, that sounds painful. Hope you feel better soon.
2.8 from me this morning, a short circuit up and down 2 large hills in town, had intended to do 3 hills but still not quite right after the cold and I really needed the loo! Practically sprinted home!
885.79

cinnamongreyhound · 22/06/2015 10:22

Yay for the run and how horrible for the car accident runtothehills, hope it doesn't get any more severe.

Well done OhOneOhTwoOhThree! Fab pb Smile

AnnPerkins · 22/06/2015 11:37

Hi all. Well done on your races OhOne and lastqueen.

Sorry to hear about your accidents runtothehills and TriJO. Hope you both recover quickly.

I only have 3 miles to add from Saturday morning. I had slight pain in my inside heels almost from the start. Will try a couple of gentle miles tomorrow and if the pain's still there I'll have to return to my old shoes for a longer period and sell my new ones on ebay or something. It's such a shame because they're really bouncy and comfortable except for these little pains.

888.79

AggressiveBunting · 22/06/2015 13:45

Oh no run. Hope you're ok. RTAs are horrible- they really shake you up don't they? I got shunted a few years ago on the A3 in terrible weather.

Great race results lastqueen and ohone.

Adding a social 5 miler to make 893.79 Was really nice.

Neeko · 22/06/2015 17:39

A 5k before work from me this morning.
896.89

PoppyShakespeare · 22/06/2015 17:44

and 2 treadmill miles

898.89

cinnamongreyhound · 22/06/2015 21:14

4 miles with the canicross club tonight, they all got back in their cars and I ran home in the pouring rain Shock 902.89

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 22/06/2015 22:25

Well done cinners on your rainy run Smile

Sorry you are still hurting Ann Sad

Well done Poppy

Ouch TriJo I winced when I read your post Shock

Results are in and I regretting my chit chat and pit stop, as together they tipped me 6 seconds into the next minute Angry Smile. Still, a time to beat next year Smile

familygermsareok · 22/06/2015 22:29

That's proper hardcore running cinnamon Wink

Hope you are ok runtothehills, that must have been quite a fright. Hope neck is better for your race.
And hope you are ok too TriJo, sounds like a bad fall.

Fantastic results OhOne and lastqueen Smile

That's really interesting about the changes in your sweat composition and better tolerance of dehydration Aggressive. I'm endlessly fascinated by how humans ( and other lifeforms) can adapt to different conditions. We are all pretty amazing really!

I have 4.75 from Sat morning to add but no chance to run till Wed now.
DS1 has started running by himself now which is great. He used the app, 'Zombies, Run!' and knocked almost 2 mins off his previous PB trying to escape from the pursuing undead! Getting a bit too fast for my liking though, I think he will beat me next time Grin

902.89 + 4.85 = 907.74

Purpletoes · 22/06/2015 22:47

Cani join?i have just restarted running in the last monthas I had my DD 4 months ago. Been doing a mix of walking and small runs and tonight I managed my first 5km.

I am booked to do a 10km in September and October. The last 10km I did I hadn't trained very much so time was 78 mins so would like to get down to below 70 this time.

All your runs sound amazing.
