3.3 humid miles from me this evening - which would have been more enjoyable if I hadn't been stung on my arm by a wasp half way through! Ouch.

856.81+3.3=860.11

cinnamongreyhound · 22/08/2015 21:28

4 miles from me parkrun and there and back 864.11. Will post my totals but may not read back as limited internet where we're on holiday.

FlukeSkyeRunner · 22/08/2015 22:13

Ive got that pain in the insides of my lower legs again... I think it's shin splints. So I guess that's no running for me for a couple of weeks. I knew my running shoes needed replacing, I should have done it sooner. I guess that is probably the cause. Bother.

Purpletoes · 23/08/2015 00:33

3.4 hot humid mid morning miles from me. Tripped in woods think I have twisted ankle a little but nothing too serious. It's so hot tonight though!
runningtothehills good luck in run today
cinnamon sorry about car accident hope car gets replaced soon.
fluke oh no hope the shin splints recover soon

867.51

TriJo · 23/08/2015 07:32

Very pleasant 8km around Hampstead Heath before it got really hot yesterday. Felt better running than I have done in about 2 weeks, which I'm quite happy about. 9+5 now after early scan midweek pushed me about 2 weeks ahead!

872.51

FlukeSkyeRunner · 23/08/2015 07:55

Oh dear, we're not doing very well are we! purple hope your ankle is ok this morning. cinnamon I just read your post about your car, hope you're ok.

KeyserSophie · 23/08/2015 09:15

4 from me this morning to make 876.51. Disastrous week on the running front. DS's first day of school, DD's last day of nursery, a good friend's leaving party and DD's birthday combined to a perfect storm of crapness. Managed 34k vs a minimum target of 50km (oops) but did manage to get to 2 Crossfit classes and lugged a tonne of furniture around yesterday to clear a function room for the bouncy castle Grin. Got all my runs scheduled in my diary for next week so no excuses

emummy · 23/08/2015 13:52

5k trail race today in the hot sun! Think I was slightly faster than last year, certainly ran a better race so pleased. Nearly threw up at the finish line though, why that always happens at this one race I don't know! runtothehills is running the hm at the same event, hope it went well

lastqueenofscotland · 23/08/2015 14:53

5.77 from me

882.28

suzannefollowmyvan · 23/08/2015 15:18

12 miles in the rain from me, what a relief :o
894.28

lastqueenofscotland · 23/08/2015 16:15

Has anyone ever looked into ideal racing weights? Just wondering what people thought about it!

suzannefollowmyvan · 23/08/2015 16:19

not really Lastqueen, I'm sure I should be much faster than I am at my current weight thoughBlush

MadFatRunner · 23/08/2015 16:23

I've got Matt Fitzgerald's racing weight and his racing weight quick start books, they were both interesting reads. Would rather count calories than try to use his quality quotient scoring system though - plus (am not great at numbers so it might be my fault) my racing weight according to his formula is below 17.5 BMI which isn't good.

suzannefollowmyvan · 23/08/2015 16:36

I dont like my BMI to drop much below 20 so I dont think I'd be too keen to follow his formula either Mad

plus I'm not willing to cut back on strength training and that's probably always going to be counter producitve from a speed point of view

MadFatRunner · 23/08/2015 16:46

well if I wanted to be fast I would never ever smoke (probably) but I do smoke sometimes

I probably worked it out wrong, it used body fat percentage and there were tables I didn't understand Blush

suzannefollowmyvan · 23/08/2015 17:08

Unless you are gifted enough to be an above average runner and can train enough to optimise your potential I'm not sure the costs of being super light weight are worth the benefits?

lastqueenofscotland · 23/08/2015 17:16

I just found it interesting- my bmi is about 21 (maybe a bit more having eaten out every day since Thursday!!) but it recommended I lost TWENTY FOUR POUNDS. So I decided it might be shit haha

runtothehills · 23/08/2015 17:27

Well done emummy saw you all being led off by the piper! Was certainly v hot (by north of Scotland standards anyway), and humid after all the rain yesterday.

13.1 miles from my HM, managed to keep my pace at the start which was difficult as the first 2 miles was run alongside the 10k runners. Lurgy was still there but managed to resist a coughing fit until over the finish line, can't say I feel too good now Sad. Think it'll be a Brew not a Wine to celebrate tonight!

907.38

lastqueen think with 24lb less you maybe able to float along your runs, or tag-hold of the person in front as they won't notice you're there Grin.

lastqueenofscotland · 23/08/2015 17:48

well done hills you finished that was the main thing? Where abouts was your hm?

It tips my bmi to like 16.9 or something mad?! I'd not mind shedding another 5 lbs for marathons next year but ... God it seems very very low!

runtothehills · 23/08/2015 18:57

Lastqueen it was the same event as emummy, Trail HM in NE Scotland, hilly and muddy Grin

Re weight loss, think there is a choice you have to make between weight loss and performance. Some take it v seriously, and the results do pay off, but at the same time there is also the feeling that running gives you the chance of rewards such as a nice Wine or a slice of Cake. Depends on how much you want to improve times/podiums etc. Agree with Suzanne though, you can loose all the weight you like but some people are just naturally fast runners Envy

lastqueenofscotland · 23/08/2015 19:02

Oh lovely - know Banchory well. Hope you enjoyed!
I mean let's not beat around the bush, someone who is 5'5 and ten st isn't going to win the London marathon. But iirc Paula's bmi was always about 18? I think I was just a bit shocked as to how low ny ideal racing weight is! Not that it matters. Pizza take away instead of Sunday dinner

TriJo · 23/08/2015 20:20

2 miles with DH earlier around the park - neither of us in particularly great running form but still good to get out. Nice Earl Grey afterwards though :)

emummy · 23/08/2015 21:34

Well done runtothehills good work! Had some friends doing the hm, they were a bit worried about what last night's rain might have done to the course. Put your feet up now, you've earned it!

familygermsareok · 24/08/2015 13:45

Well done emummy and runtothehills. It looks like a fabulous course Smile

2.7 from me this morning. Need to slowly build it back up again but I'm so missing my long runs. Am enjoying a bit of cycling instead but I really can't be bothered with all the faff of looking after chain/gears etc and if I get a puncture I'm stuffed as I'm useless at changing tubes. Running is just so much simpler.......

907.38 + 2 from TriJo + 2.7 from me = 912.08

MyBlackCat · 25/08/2015 13:38

Just over three miles on the treadmill yesterday doing intervals, didn't quite manage what I had planned so felt a little disappointed. Having a day off today Grin
