in running related chat have entered a 10 mile race in Oct with my brother and some friends so that's something else to look forward to Smile

lastqueenofscotland · 19/08/2015 13:27

5 miles last night 784.1 soooo tired

Purpletoes · 19/08/2015 13:45

5.3 from me running club run. It was lovely and a steady pace and chat around local roads. Definitely feeling like its getting easier to run a bit faster than a jog these days.

I just need to start a bit more cross training but it's hard enough to find time to run with toddler and baby.
I did a kettlebell class when in Ireland and felt the effects for 3 days! BlushEspecially as dd seems to be going through a clingy stage. OH said she was inconsolable for at least 30 mins when I was out. His description was you know that sound a lobster makes when put in the pot she sounded like that! Blush

sounds like he knows exactly what to say to make you feel guilty...I say go out more, they obviously need as much time alone together as possible so that they can bond:o

suzannefollowmyvan · 19/08/2015 20:23

12 miles from me
801.4

Purpletoes · 19/08/2015 20:24

He was fine with it suzanne and actually is of the opinion he should take her more! Smile

I think it's because he has been with DS more etc. she is breastfed and going through a bottle refusing and suckling at night stage! Hmm

Basically oh knows my sanity would be completely gone without my runs! Hoping to get to club tomorrow night for intervals training. Have my first race in 3 weeksGrinGrin

phlebasconsidered · 19/08/2015 20:27

3 miles from me round town. I usually run off road but it occurred to me that as my hm is all on road I'd best get my knees used to it.

792.4

And Poppy, for me the thyroid exhaustion didn't go away until my T4 was at 18 and my tsh completely suppressed at zero, but the real help for me was the addition of T3, which really helps weight, energy and memory wise. I think it's acknowledged that everything is slower with a dead thyroid, muscle growth included, and recovery rate. One thing worth knowing is that you must increase dosage of the drugs slowly, or you can get palpitations. I try to take my T4 &3 at the opposite end to when I'm running as I found it can make a difference to performance. My dose has come down now I am on t3 as well,I was on a massive 350mg but now it's 150 plus 40 t3.

I did use to have quite a few links on thyroid and fitness, I'll rummage in my bookmarks.

MadFatRunner · 19/08/2015 20:39

thanks phlebas, don't think thyroid is completely dead yet despite endocrinologist's best efforts (mine is overactive but coming down into range with meds) but I could end up on thyroxine longer term like my mum, if it burns itself out or I have surgery (radioactive iodine didn't work)

MadFatRunner · 19/08/2015 20:53

actually for all I know it could be underactive by now, I missed an appointment

lastqueenofscotland · 19/08/2015 20:54

5.13 from me. Felt slow and like really hard work but was actually quite speedy. Think phlebas x posted so we are on
809.53

cinnamongreyhound · 20/08/2015 16:34

So my run today was twarted by someone smashing into the back of my car as I was about to turn off to park Sad big doggy has a small cut on his bum, my friend has a big bruise on her leg and I have a painful back but otherwise we're all ok. Car is undrivable Sad

MadFatRunner · 20/08/2015 17:42

oh no! Sad thank goodness nobody badly hurt but what a nuisance

suzannefollowmyvan · 20/08/2015 20:46

You poor things Cinnamon :(
huge relief that there were no serious injuries but even so an incident like that leaves you feeling very shaken up.
I hope you all have some time to rest and try to relax

MadFatRunner · 21/08/2015 13:40

3 miles each fairly arduous

809.53 + 3 = 812.53

suzannefollowmyvan · 21/08/2015 15:12

12 miles in the sun from me
824.53

emummy · 21/08/2015 16:38

Sorry to hear about your accident, cinnamon, hope you are all feeling ok today.
No running for me, race on Sunday. I'm doing the 5k, good luck with the hm runtothehills. I see the forecast is for sun and 18 degrees, always nice when running up a big hill! I only have about 200 feet to climb, think the hm is quite a bit more!

MadFatRunner · 21/08/2015 19:45

for some reason I went out in my under armour ColdGear stuff with long sleeved winter top today when it was 25c

suzannefollowmyvan · 21/08/2015 22:55

you masochist Mad :o

MadFatRunner · 21/08/2015 22:57

it felt sort of cold inside my house Confused

Whowouldfardelsbear · 22/08/2015 06:10

Oh no Cinnamon! Glad no one was too hurt - hope the insurance is sorted quickly (though when somebody wrote my ten-year-old car off I got a brand new (about 44 miles on clock) courtesy car for a week which was awesome - i drove anywhere I could).

I've got 4.08, a 1.58 and a 6.34 treadmill runs from this week. DD2 been horribly unwell with the flu which is doing the rounds across NZ and decimating the daycares so i didn't really want to be away from home if I could help it.

So that makes a total for me to add of 11.98 = 836.51

runtothehills · 22/08/2015 11:45

Thanks emummy good luck to you too!

Been laid up with a horrid cold since Wednesday, desperately trying to get well again for tomorrow! Had to pass on the race on Thursday night. Hoping lots of fruit and lemsips will help. Did manage a 6 milers on Tuesday though.

cinnamon hope all ok, I'm still waiting to get my car sorted after crash at start of July, hopefully going into garage next week (and looking forward to a nice clean hire car for a few days Smile)

familygermsareok · 22/08/2015 15:12

That sounds horrible cinnamon. Glad no one was seriously injured, but what a fright. Lack of car is a right pain too.

Hope you feel better for tomorrow runtothehills. Good luck to you and emummy, the Fare Challenge looks lovely. I liked the look of it but DH is away. I am slightly Envy .

I have 11.2 to add. 4 gentle ones from Thurs, another 4.1 early this morning to see if my recalcitrant Achilles would be up to the hills in parkrun. It wasn't, really, but DS1 was keen so I went telling myself I would be sensible and take it easy, especially on the hilly bits. Of course, I didn't and am now sitting with an ice pack on a throbbing tendon Sad . But another 3.1 to add.

So 836.51 + 11.2 = 847.71

familygermsareok · 22/08/2015 15:17

Also adding runtothehills 6 miles from Tue, hope that's ok, I don't think it's already been added.

847.71 + 6 = 853.71

MyBlackCat · 22/08/2015 16:55

3.1 parkrun miles from me, very hot but ran a PB so happy Smile yesterday I walked a hill run course I am doing next week, it was 4.4 miles but not sure if walking counts so I'll let someone else decide. Wink I plan to practice run it in the week, not looking forward to it, it's pretty steep but a new challenge.

850.81

MyBlackCat · 22/08/2015 16:56

Missed the last post Shock so new total...
