really needs it's own thread as another outcome of Brexit we were assured wouldn't happen.

What's the big surprise about this? Many people have to pay when entering other countries, it's pretty standard.

I can't ever remember a time when we had to have visas for Western Europe, and I am now 70. We did for E Europe but that was when it was under communism.

Can't say this bothers me. It's a tiny amount and I'm quite happy to get the ESTA approval when I go to the US.

I studied in Spain in the mid 80s and we needed one.

Was it different to study? I am talking about just taking off for holidays, which I used to do pretty regularly from the 1970s onwards. I didn't have a visa for my first trip abroad to Spain and Portugal in 1963.

We also used to be able to have a cheapy passport - a European visitors passport which was a sheet of folded cardboard and could be purchased very quickly from the post office.

Who would want to go to the EU on holiday anyway when we can stay in the UK and swim in our sewage filled seas instead. I can't wait to smell the sovereignty!
