I'd laugh if I could take my head off the desk. Stupid fucking bastards

I wish there was a Like button.

@Peregrina

I wish there was a Like button.
Like it by downloading it, and posting it whenever a Louise pops up to redefine what they wanted from Brexit to make it look like a success. Which appears to be the new tactic at avoiding talking about the clusterfuck it clearly is.

Oceania was at war with Eastasia. Oceania had always been at war with Eastasia.

Can you please not use that name as the Brexit version of 'Karen'? Tvm

LouiseCollins28 · 25/01/2021 10:01

DoubleTween I think in this specific instance its me being referred to. Unless I have in fact become the Brexit version of 'Karen', appols for repeating that I don't like that perjorative 'Karen' either.

Peregrina · 25/01/2021 10:48

No I don't think it's you specifically Louise - it says "a" Louise. Admittedly a better name to quote would be A Clavinova - someone who will always find an excuse to run down anything to do with the EU and big up anything Johnson does. Who will then ignore a direct question about his failings by having to go out.

DGRossetti · 25/01/2021 11:19

I can hear you all, you know ?

It was Louise28 that I was thinking of hence the (rather clunky ?) way I wrote it.

Anyway the point being it was Louise28 in another thread that suddenly found justification for Brexit that had never once been mentioned in the 54 months since the referendum. Which I pointed out with typical sledgehammer wit immediately.

However since then, all over the place (so much so that it's hard not to ascribe some agency to it) I've seen odd posts where peoples support for Brexit has suddenly been reshaped to fit current events.

That is: goalpost shifting. And spurious. I still want to see those benefits you never once articulated in 54 months, before you invent- discover more.

Hence the picture. It's a metaphor.

I stand corrected DGR.

Yes, we have had a lot of 'We knew it wouldn't be easy.' Oh no you didn't.

Yes, we have had a lot of 'We knew it wouldn't be easy.' Oh no you didn't.

The problem with the sound systems that Brexiteers were using (we're back to metaphor again) to drown out all other voices is that they do a cracking job of amplifying tiny violins.

Well, that's easily fixed.

We'll just say "someone like Louise" or "someone like Clav".

That'll cover it nicely.

KonTikki · 25/01/2021 13:37

It's a bit too personal for me.
But I am quaintly sensitive like that Wink

DGRossetti · 25/01/2021 13:41

"someone like Clav".

I struggle to recall when Clav has added anything to a debate apart from copious volumes of other peoples work. They only exist in opposition to the EU - possibly an artefact of the internet that supports them.

Oh yes, and the best is yet to come. It's just the first month. I think we will see full effect in couple of years.
