Just in case it is of interest to anyone:

6 million of us signed the last one

2 million of us marched in October

1 million of us marched in March

we were ignored
the country needs to reap what it sowed

RubaiyatOfAnyone · 14/07/2020 16:55

Yes, i’m slightly world weary in posting it, but i’d rather it was seen and considered than not.

OP posts:
Ponddering · 14/07/2020 16:57

Thanks for the chuckle, OP!

RubaiyatOfAnyone · 14/07/2020 17:02

Is that an attempt at patronising me into not posting things? I thought it might be of interest to some people in the UK on mumsnet, so i posted it.

I thought that’s what this board was for. I don’t hang out here much so i apologise if i’ve broken an unwritten code that we mustn’t do or say anything unless steeped in cynical superiority.

I think we're going to have to endure at least a few years of pain outside the EU before anyone takes this seriously.

Once people have lost their jobs, we're all poorer, there's less choice on the shelves, everything costs more, our farming and manufacturing industries are on their arses and we're eating terrible food from the US...thats when leavers will (hopefully) sit up and realise their error.

HerLadySheep · 14/07/2020 17:05

Yes sadly I agree, they really will not see the damage this has done until they feel the pain. Unfortunately we're all going to suffer

ListeningQuietly · 14/07/2020 17:06

Not you,
the person who set up the petition
they are almost as deluded as the muppets in Government.

It almost makes me sad that people still think petitions achieve anything
but thank you for letting us know that there are optimists out there
hence why I posted onto your thread Smile

RubaiyatOfAnyone · 14/07/2020 17:08

Ah, in that case sorry for being prickly Smile
Have been reading too many attacky threads today.

Grin Most of the posters on the big threads on this board are mind buggeringly angry about the whole thing

but have given up being angry at each other
and definitely not at people who talk sense

its a strange world we live in Sad

Icantreachthepretzels · 15/07/2020 18:52

well I signed it OP so thank you. I'm long past expecting this government to ever take any sensible action or listen to any dissenting voices as they careen towards disaster, but when history looks back and judges (and it will) I want it known that there were people fighting this the whole way - and I was one of them!

Pepperwort · 16/07/2020 21:26

As pp's said it'll be bugger all use given that we don't really live in a democracy, but I'll sign it and pass it round.

I think it's important at such times to remind all and sundry that not all of us agreed with this - that it was a very slim majority in favour - even before the complete fuck up they've made of administering it. It might just make a difference in the future.

lazysummer · 16/07/2020 22:42

Thank you. I have signed it. I am also someone who will never give up. I despair of the mess the current government is making.

RaspberryBubblegum · 16/07/2020 22:45

I don't think they'll ever realise the error of their ways sadly. They'll just blame it on Covid19... Or Jeremy Corbyn.

Peregrina · 18/07/2020 11:08

I have signed too, and like others think it will be a total waste of time.
Also like others, it's a way of standing up to be counted. When Brexit goes completely tits up as it almost certainly will, a lot of Leavers will busily rewrite their personal histories and say that they didn't really support leave. Then we will be able to ask "Where your names on the petitions?" "Were you on the demos?" And their answer will be silence.

ListeningQuietly · 18/07/2020 13:16

Despite my cynicism, Peregrina is right
and I have now signed

Whenwillow · 19/07/2020 08:27

I have signed. Thank you.
