Fantasy Cabinet-who would you choose?

I'm thinking a GNU (Government of National Union) might be a good thing. It's s new concept to me and I admittedly don't know anything about how that would actually work but it's got me thinking. Who would be in your fantasy cabinet? As this is for fun you can choose people from outside the UK and they don't need to be actual politicians.

So far I've decided on

Donald Tusk
Leo Varadker
Lady Hale
Joanna Cherry
Anna Soubry
Ian Blackford
And of course, John Bercow

No idea who I'd have in which role but they are people I have respect for and admire their passion or diplomacy and care for the people.

Jacinta Ardern! If the Kiwis can spare her for a bit!

DarkAtEndOfUk · 26/09/2019 21:30

John Major at the moment. He's doing a fantastic job in the background. I've fantasised about all of our living previous prime ministers coming back and taking this shit show over. Except Cameron. I had him on the list to start with but then his book came out and the excerpts I've seen (I am not buying it) are such self justificatory shit.

Also Caroline Lucas. I've always liked her.

I would pick the wonderful John Bercow, Gina Miller, Lady Hale, Barack and Michelle Obama, Greta Thunberg, Serena Williams, Oprah, Ellen, David Attenborough, Pink, John McDonnell, Prince Harry, Dominic Grieve, Robert Peston and Keir Starmer. Sorry about the essay guys.

MarshmallowManiac · 26/09/2019 21:54

Sorry I forgot Donald Tusk Smile

Taswama · 26/09/2019 21:58

I'd start from scratch. Ben Fogle, Sue Perkins, Olly Murrs, Maggie Smith for starters. They all come across as nice, sensible people.

HesterThrale · 26/09/2019 22:09

David Lammy

DarkAtEndOfUk · 26/09/2019 22:47

How about Ghandi? I wonder if he'd have any usable advice for us.

Longdistance · 26/09/2019 22:57

I’d like Kermit the frog, Miss Piggy and sooty.

Kermit as he’s on the fence.
Miss Piggy s she’s punchy.
Sooty as he’s a mute nodded.

Well, they’re all a bunch of p/muppets.

powershowerforanhour · 27/09/2019 04:31

George Mitchell
Mark Carney clone (original needed where he is)
Maybe Rwanda would lend us some of their female MPs
We could get some from India as well- I know they have some problems with corruption but they have kept that huge and varied show on the road since 1947.

Yaralie · 29/09/2019 16:26

MarshmallowManiac · 30/09/2019 21:18

Just remembered Jo Cox, would definitely want her in my Cabinet Smile

Miljah · 30/09/2019 21:26

Margaret Thatcher? Really?

She'd need a Cummings behind her, these days. And even she recognised the value of the EEC.
