Germany, the biggest economic power house of the EU is on the brink of a possible recession.

As a brexiteer - I’m glad we are leaving the EU.

I think the looming no deal Brexit could cause a global recession..... then the world would hate Britain, not just the EU.

Italy can’t survive in the Eurozone for much longer, nor can Greece and the knock on effects will be huge. These countries are in serious trouble and we need to get out before the whole thing crumbles down around us

You do know that the Eurozone is a different thing to the EU, don’t you OP? Also I note you don’t mention France or Spain, both of which are doing pretty well at the mo. Germany and Italy have very export heavy economies and so they are suffering from the slowdown in world trade caused by the US - China trade war. It’s nothing to do with the internal workings of the EU.

Yes of course I am aware of the differences - I am talking about the knock on effects for the UK.

We have already voted to leave. The majority of people wanted to leave. You cannot just undo democracy because the vote didn’t go your way.

I really don't think leaving the EU (in the way that it is being conducted anyway) will do anything to protect the UK from recession.

Quite the opposite in fact. UK is tied to Europe via trade whether you like it or not, so when they get a cold UK will get the flu and all that.

I suppose it would be better to paddle your own canoe in a maelstrom of recession. But sure, go ahead, prove it will be better that way.

Them having a recession doesn’t make us prosperous.

Why has UK not left already is my question if it is so good to go it alone without any trade deal/agreement with the EU?

@NotStayingIn sadly, I agree. Was just reading this thread and trying to figure out how the "we're going, so accept it" argument is in any way relevant to the OP? It's like the record's stuck.

Countries go through recessions. Whether or not we're in the EU, other countries' economies will affect the UK because it's 2019 and countries are interconnected through trade. For example the credit crunch just over 10 years ago started in the US

Just don't forget that the British economy shrunk by 0.2% last quarter, while Germany shrank 0.1%, ie UK is doing worse than Germany 😉
