What do you expect to be doing on 1st Nov?

Just that really.

Am trying to plan in case of No Deal and have been starting the old ‘forward purchasing’ routine again. But do you think that it will run as a normal day in terms of public transport services, health provision, shop opening times etc? I have no idea what the immediate aftermath could look like and I appreciate that no-one knows for sure, but it feels so strange that such a juncture is approaching and we don’t really know what it will look like in reality.

I work in education and haven’t been told anything official really. It’s like it’s not happening at all.

Not a clue. Probably same old same old autism ruling our lives.

I hope for same as normal. Not sure that much that effects us on day 1. Probably shopping if all is quiet. Listening to neighbours celebrating.

I'll be weeping and wearing black. No point stockpiling - my kids won't eat tinned food. One has ARFID and really won't.

I've got a stay at a hotel booked that week for a friend's birthday so I'm hoping they've planned ahead. Tbh I don't think the bottom will fall out if the world on day 1 (although the shops will be like Christmas Eve with all the panic buyers) I think shortages and price rises will take days or even weeks to filter through.

I think 1 November will be largely fine. Supply chain issues won't hit within one day, plus it's a public holiday on a lot of the Continent so would be a quiet day at the ports anyway. I think the problems will start to show the following week. I suppose there might be slower immigration straightaway.

I have read that supply chain issues will hit a week or so before as non U.K. companies won’t want to be sending their drivers to the U.K. in case they get caught up in the shitshow that will be the U.K. ports.

I think I’ve booked the day off (half term) so expect to be at home eating leftover Halloween haribo and calling Boris a fucking cock.

I think it’ll be fairly normal. I don’t think problems will occur that quickly.

It’ll be the last day of half term, so I’ll take DC1 for a haircut, DC2 will be anxious about going back to school and trying to convince me to home school, DC3 has a SALT appointment.

So life as normal for us - I do plan to have a food shop booked with Ocado just in case there are shortages starting through panic buying.

I don't think anything awful will happen immediately but it will be a slow creep into hardship for a lot of people.

Probably at work, wondering how far my 'stockpile' of several 4-tin packs of baked beans, 3 bags of pasta and 24 loo rolls will get us! (The cat will be fine, due to the amount of cat food which gets put by in the cupboard when he temporarily 'goes off' his latest favourite which I have optimistically bought in bulk 😁).

I think the best case scenario is that for most people it will be the same, but just slightly worse - more form filling, less food, price rises if the pound sinks further, general low level concern and uncertainty. It's not a peak time for holiday ferry travel, so many won't experience the practical effect of delays at ports.

Trump will be trying to make mileage out of Brexit, and Farage and Johnson will be making speeches in front of rather unimpressive crowds. (Demonstrators corralled at a safe distance).

However, after a few days Farage will be claiming that we haven't really left, because (assuming we aren't in a worse case scenario) the government will have cobbled together some kind of temporary agreement with the EU, and parliament will still be arguing over a future deal. It's likely that we will have a general election shortly after Nov 1st, because the current government don't have the numbers to govern.

Basically, we will still be in limbo. It will feel similar to the foot and mouth crisis or winter of discontent, but more wide reaching and lasting longer.

I should be flying back from the USA. I’m nervous about the fact we’ll arrive back to panic buying so I will have a fully stocked freezer and cupboards (and under the spare beds) before we leave.

Alternatively, it’s possible our leave will be cancelled and we won’t be able to go on holiday, so we will be in work, working on resolving issues arising from the medicines shortages.

It's a Friday. I think I might have a dietitian's appointment that day? DH will probably be working - I think they have an all hands on deck situation (works for the government) - but there's a good chance he'll be working from home. I suspect he'll be a tad frustrated and there'll be some angry typing going on. I don't expect my day to be that different from normal. I'll be looking out for the glorious independence unicorns and watching out in case my EU immigrant arse will spontaneously combust, I guess.
