Money for this but no money for schools.

'What" doesn't need to happen? Brexit or the preparation? Because if we are leaving without a deal, we sure as hell need the preparation for it.

bellinisurge · 01/08/2019 12:32

@Janista ERG and DUP blocked the WA. Fuck knows what Labour's position is/was/is.

Project Fear to even suggest it would be bad, remember? Or did that not hit your time zone in Australia?

Cloudtree · 01/08/2019 12:43

Oh Janista I thought for once we had a sensible response from all the way Down Under. And then you ruined it with your final paragraph.

Quellium · 01/08/2019 12:44

No Deal Brexit doesn't need to happen. That wasn't directed at you Cloudtree, I posted at the same time as you. We could Revoke and stop the madness.

JenniR29 · 01/08/2019 13:54

Surely the leavers must admit that whatever they were most concerned about to make them vote leave (be it immigration policy, money for the NHS etc) could have been easily solved by a 2bn cash injection in the first place?! We don’t actually have to subscribe to this madness!

twofingerstoEverything · 01/08/2019 13:58

Remainers only have themselves to blame for any disruption
Oh, fuck off with that nonsense.

JenniR29 · 01/08/2019 14:02

Obviously it’s all the remainers fault, I guess we just aren’t believing hard enough!!

BMW6 · 01/08/2019 14:26

You would rather we crashed out without any preparation??

Obviously lots of you would prefer us not to be leaving the EU at all, but as we do appear to be really leaving and it is entirely likely that we will be leaving without a deal, it is only common sense to prepare for that eventuality.

Exiting under a No Deal may well incur tremendous difficulties. Exiting without any preparation will definitely incur disaster.

I'll take the least worst option.

bellinisurge · 01/08/2019 14:30

I'm a general prepper @BMW6 . We should have been doing this yonks ago. Or ..., here's a crazy notion.... agreeing to making NI a special economic zone and putting a border in the sea. As the EU suggested.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/08/2019 14:30

We don't need to leave. It's clear No Deal would be a disaster. We don't need to do this. We all make mistakes at a personal level and upwards. Courage is acknowledging mistakes and changing course.

Peregrina · 01/08/2019 14:34

It's clear No Deal would be a disaster.

It's difficult to see how the damage can be repaired though. I suspect that domestically a majority of Leavers who didn't care much before about the EU, won't care much if Johnson does come along with his cash bung. He still won't be able to shut up the rabid right wing, because they want its destruction for their own purposes.

KennDodd · 01/08/2019 14:36

Surely we won't need to spend anything, we'll be picnicing on the sunlit uplands and wondering how we'll spend the Brexit bonanza coming our way. As for blaming anyone, wouldn't we be thanking them, why do we need to blame anyone if everything is going to be so great, just as we were promised.

myoctopus · 01/08/2019 19:12

I've just started a thread with pretty much the same title I cannot believe that anyone can come on this thread and justify this!

10 fucking years of austerity this Govt has put us through!
Benefits cut
Public sector workers have had no pay rise!
Libraries and sure start centres closed
Children's services cut
Teenage mental health services cut
Pension age increased to 67 plus
The working poor using food banks

And over fucking night they find 2.4 billion which will apparently 'turbo charge' us through a No deal Brexit

I don't think I've been so angry!

myoctopus · 01/08/2019 20:05

And then watching Ross Kemp Living With: Young Carers!

My heart breaks for those children and what 2.4b could do for those families!

jasjas1973 · 01/08/2019 20:19

@Janista, you are looking tired, get some sleep.

Anyhow, just to pee on everyone's parade, its not £2.1 billion, its over £6 billion as May has already authorised £4 billion in no deal prep.

The tories should be out on their ear, this sort of profligacy with the nations finances is unprecedented, certainly in the modern era, you'd need to go back to the days of absolute monarchs for anything similar.

Coming after 9 years of austerity, this money is needed for soooooo many other things.
