We Are Now Doomed to Talk About Brexit For The Next 15 Years

Thing is, however we leave, that's just the START of the issue.

Our politicians and government are going to be doing nothing else for something like fifteen years. Because unravelling all those treaties and negotiating a new relationship with the remaining EU countries is a really, really big thing.

And we're also going to have to cope with a lot of industrial changes and massive unemployment and the departure of whole industries.

There is no end to this. Not in my lifetime, anyway.

Hopefully we'll get independence and can forget brexit ever happened

Oh goodness splitting Scotland from the rest of the UK will be like Brexit on steroids. Please not. Although I completely understand why,

CheekyChops666 · 29/03/2019 16:19

@having Surely Scotland just copies and pastes to EU deals?

ssd · 29/03/2019 16:50

Of course it won't be brexit on steroids, don't be so dramatic

Scotland needs to be given the vote for independence again as we voted to remain on the UK on the condition the UK was staying in Europe, that's changing so we need to be given the vote on whether we want to stay in the UK that has left Europe

It's quite simple

SeeYouLaterUserData · 29/03/2019 16:52

however we leave

I don't think we're leaving Smile

BubblesBuddy · 29/03/2019 17:18

I think we shouldn’t be splitting up the uk at the moment. However we will be talking about Bexit for years. If we leave it will be the cause of all our woes and if we stay, ditto. We have political parties that do not follow Brexit lines so that’s yet another issue.

EstrellaDamn · 29/03/2019 17:22

I'm fine with talking about it for 15 years as long as it's in a 'phew, look how close we came to being complete twats' type way.

And yes to independence please.

ssd · 29/03/2019 20:01

Bubbles, Scotland voted to not splitting up Europe. And I think they should be allowed the choice to vote on independence and staying in Europe.

RedToothBrush · 29/03/2019 20:25

And the rest...

BubblesBuddy · 30/03/2019 00:07

Scotland is part of the uk and cannot take this decision alone. It’s just too much at the moment. For all of us. You cannot always have what you want when you want it. I accept the Eu vote isn’t welcome in Scotland (not welcomed by me either) but it needs a conclusion before yet more change. If Nicola Sturgeon thinks she can win, she will ask for another vote.
