Forgive my ignorance (brexit is making my brain ache) but what is the advantage of TM resigning? I can imagine the only people wanting/willing to take over will be JRM or someone similar. Wont that be just as bad....if thats even possible?? I feel like we are kind of stuck now. What could potentially happen to improve things before 29th March?

krazy I think the hope would be article 50 would be revoked or at least significantly delayed while they sort a new leader. It would probably trigger a general election.

But yes not an obvious winning solution. Unfortunately without a time machine it looks like all options are bad now

The PM's briefing at 3.45pm made it clear that TIG were in the opposition party grouping so why JC decided to petutanly huff off as if it were a surprise I'm not sure. Regardless of that, do you really want a PM in waiting to be so childish??
