A Glimmer of Hope ???

So to appease some members of cabinet TM has finally had to announce a way forward for dealing with Brexit post Mar 12th - we know it helps her bide time but ...

Doesn't it make it less likely the WA will get the support it needs as MP's aren't now backed into a corner by it?

So they then get to vote on knock "no deal" on the head - which seems likely to be supported given there is only minority appetite for such an extreme course of action ....

which brings us on to "ask for an extension".

But EU has to approve it and on what basis? "Not having our act together yet" isn't a credible one and it only postpones rather than deals with the issues and they won't want to endless negotiate on the WA.

So could it be an extension to allow for a referendum????

I fear any referendum that has No Deal as an option. I'm not yet convinced it would be excluded in the unlikely event we have another referendum .

The real worry is not taking part in the EU elections in May - if we don't take part in those, any extension worth happening will not be possible.

I don't think it is a hopeful glimmer, I think she is just pushing the jump off the cliff edge a bit further down the road.

There doesn't appear to be any change in strategy and by trying to head off the Cooper-Boles amendments, she is once again keeping the power away from Parliament.

Or she's at the cliff edge and is just hanging on to a few tussocks of grass and hoping that the cliff doesn't give way under her.

A good option might be to have EU elections on the same day as a Peoples Vote.

If May's deal won, we would leave the EU and not elect any MEPs. If REMAIN won, we would stay in the EU on our present very good terms and MEPs would be elected.

I think this too.
