Will EU passports not work for British people in the case of no deal and if so, will it be possible to apply for and receive British passports prior to March 29th?

Your passport itself will be fine, but some of he rules for travel to EU countries will change. Info here. www.gov.uk/guidance/passport-rules-for-travel-to-europe-after-brexit

One of my kids passports will expire in the next few months (after Brexit)
I am planning to get hers replaced as soon as possible.
I suspect that in the event of No deal there will be no passports issued.

No way will the Govt have managed to have sorted that out when they are incompetent with everything else

I've just done my dd. She had 4 months left but I wanted to get it out the way. It took one week I'm super impressed!

We applied from overseas and from them receiving to getting it back to us was 3 days - amazing!

Remember you don’t get unused months carried forward anymore.

Your UK passport remains a UK passport regardless of Brexit

This. It’s just a different cover really, the information in the passport itself remains the same.

The same as how the old passports remained valid even when the EU ones began to be rolled out.
