If the deal isn’t in place by the deadline, we can revoke the Article 50 notice to leave*; then invoke it at a later date if and when we want to.... right?

*ECJ says we can do this unilaterally

I agree@jasjas1973 . If border in tbe sea doesn't fly and staying in tbe CU doesn't fly and the backstop doesn't fly, it has to be revoke. No deal would be a national catastrophe.
Revoke wouldn't be easy but we've put up with anti EU grumbling before and, given the routinely poor turn out in every election, people don't give that much of a shit about tbe responsibility of democracy (Freedom Ain't Free and all that) as long as the majority can thrive in relative peace and prosperity.
None of these options is good and will take work but No Deal is absolutely tbe worst option.

{but we've put up with anti EU grumbling before}
From the other perspective, why should the EU have to put up with the UK grumbling and being disruptive? The UK is only 1one nineth of the population of the UK. Either stay in and play nice or go away, there is plenty of other shit going on.

Can anyone explain how the border in the sea isn't a massive bonus for NI? I could see rUK people relocating themselves and their businesses there, it becoming a real economic asset to NI. Obviously if it was less uncertain.

And in that case, surely the DUP would be idiots to fight it yes I know they are idiots but humour me.

It IS a massive bonus for NI but a compromise the EU is reluctantly happy to make for the sake of possible lives lost. The WA doesn't go all the EU way and some countries are pretty steamed up about it. They have accepted it as it is but the chances of reopening it would cause an outpouring of other issues. The Spanish Humoured the UK over Gibraltar but there are plenty of other fish in the French and other coastal waters seas.

Therein lies the trouble. The DUP NI want to be treated as the same as the rest but be 'special' as well. Bit like the school league tables where they all have to be above average!
