Researchers also looked at a number of other popular conspiracy theories. Both Trump and Brexit voters were more likely to believe that climate change is a hoax, vaccines are harmful, and that a group of people “secretly control events and rule the world together”. “We found the existence of a conspiratorial worldview linking both electorates,” said Leal

Brexit supporters are more likely to engage with 'science denial'.

Basically, there is no point debating facts, referencing and trying to use logic.

We may as well give up and start prepping.

Abby
WTO? C++.... Why not? Because it doesn't work for 20% of our foreign trade already?
Could you translate that into English for me ?

My aplogies, bear with me for the second link.

WTO = world trace organisation

I'll leave it there if this is the limit of your clownish understanding of politics.

Moussemoose · 28/11/2018 08:23

Again with the insults....

"WTO = world trace organisation"

The irony of getting the name wrong whist critiquing others lack of understanding is palpable.

Going back to your original point: "WTO? C++.... Why not? Because it doesn't work for 20% of our foreign trade already?"

Your explanation didn't cover it.

Do try harder.

Talkinpeece · 28/11/2018 10:00

Abby
I am well aware of the WTO
I wanted your C++ comment into English without mentioning programming languages
and this on Because it doesn't work for 20% of our foreign trade already?
is unclear

Clarity is useful when discussing Brexit outcomes

"you think I'm ill informed and get my information from YouTube. "

Yes I do, there is no credibility criteria applied to youtbube nor peer review.

You might know some members of the "establishment" blah blah, but that doesn't take away credibility from academic work, done in a first rate ( World top 10) University.

Gosh Abby you really are doing leavers a favour here.

PineappleSunrise · 28/11/2018 10:59

I hear that if someone publishes academic research that threatens your worldview, the most un-snowflakey way to respond is to freak out and start yelling about virtue signalling and elitism. That's the most rational thing to do. Halo

BorisBogtrotter · 28/11/2018 13:47

Its true.

In the same way that people who are most against identity politics, will then object to immigration because people feel their own identity ( through their area) is being eroded.

Hypocrites.

Ps. Did you know that if you hold down Alt and Right on the key board its a shortcut for snowflake?

I like the conspiracy theory that TM really, secretly has brains, cunning and nerves of steel: that she is taking Brexit right to the edge then will pull back, thus ruining all those greedy Brexiteers so they can never be be a thorn in anyone’s side ever again.

This theory makes me very happy whenever I think of it. Then the evidence that TM has none of those attributes brings me crashing down again Sad

jm90914 · 28/11/2018 15:32

Ugh... "narrative"... massively-overused-twittery-buzzword number eleventy million...

If I had a pound for every time a hollow and meaningless point followed profuse use of the word "narrative", I'd be fucking rich by now...

Talkinpeece · 28/11/2018 16:55

Tanith
for a moment there you cheered me up

Moussemoose · 28/11/2018 19:35

Tanith there is your big mistake if you want to believe a conspiracy theory you don't need evidence.

I have taken on board the comments and I am now a firm believer in your conspiracy theory and can see TM for the cunning genius that she really is.
