Tonight the Corbyn and McDonnell Labour Party supported the Tory Party in improving the tax allowance for higher rate tax payers.

Yes you read that right. Did you even blink?

You've been so conditioned into seeing non existant opposition which seems to go against everything the Labour Party stand for that you no longer are shocked.

That's what 2 and a half years of Brexit has done to you.

You no longer care that Boris Johnson got £14,000 from the Saudis a couple of days before the Khashoggi murder. You know longer care that the former Defence Secretary is employed for £75,000 a year to advise a major Saudi Investor.

You are just happy that Trump hasn't started a war with Iran or North Korea yet. And hasn't started a civil war. (Though he's trying hard and next week is his best opportunity to stir it all up). You aren't surprised to hear that predictions are that the Democrats will fail to make gains in the mid terms.

You've suffered the 4657 story about how Therea May is just about to be challenged for the leadership.

You've heard about the squad set up at the Home Office to clear up all the cases the media get their hands on as the latest burning injustice. You are hearing that EU nationals who have been promised they are 'safe' are being subjected to questions about their right to stay. And you just shrug and say, "Yeah well thats the Home Office for you. The Bastards". And you do mean it, but you are so jaded by it all. And you worry that another 12 months from now, you won't even be interested in another story like that, and the press will stop printing them as they no longer interest the reader. What happens to your friends, your family, or even you then? Who is going to care then?

And then you have today.

A day where you hear that Bannon is being investigated by the Senate Intel Committee, Farage has been upgraded to the FBI's Really Naughty List and Banks has (FINALLY) been refered to the NCA. (We were only speculating on the possibility, on the 26th March...)

And you go 'Ooooooooo maybe there is hope'.

Maybe we COULD remain in the EU and avoid Turnip Soup and wiping your arse with leaves because of the national bog roll shortage. Or at least get a decent deal which suits us as a nation. Maybe, just maybe!

And that lasts for about 2 minutes before you log into twitter and the very first thing you see this:

Tom Newton Dunn @tnewtondunn
Excl: David Cameron tells friends he’d like a return to frontline politics, and fancies Foreign Secretary
www.thesun.co.uk/news/7639377/david-cameron-return-to-politics/

And you let out a high pitched screech as if you are were a dying cat as you remember this is 2018, and it just wants to beat the life out of you.

On the plus side, it shows you do still care enough to think 'Don't let that fucking bastard anywhere near power ever, ever again.'.

Ho hum.

Keep on, keeping on. Don't let the bastards win.
Keep caring. It matters.

I was in Chipping Norton at the weekend. I will be again. I had a plan for if i saw DC, destroyer of the European project, in the queue at the fruit stall. Not executed - this time.

jasjas1973 · 02/11/2018 00:13

If Labour oppose the rises in tax allowances, then the media will portray it as Labour cut salaries of teachers and nurses etc etc

If they say they'll reverse the allowances, then portrayed as Labour Tax grab on middle England!

It then plays into the narrative that Labour tax and spend.. back to the 70s... put the lights out etc

They have to play the long game, whether we'll wake up to the Tory game is another matter.

Cake thanks red

Dear jezuz not Dave again... no one wants that, he is the will of nil people. Some voted leave just because he supported remain. I also never got over that pig story.

Slightly concerned how many of you have butchering, archery and/or shooting skills. Must need to up my game Hmm Grin
Have brought more supplies for the Queendom Remaindom pharmacy 👍 and have reached my 3 days worth of bottled water for two people.

Peregrina · 02/11/2018 01:44

placematking.

Cameron - ha, ha, ha.

mathanxiety · 02/11/2018 05:22

Boris has given up hope of being PM?

And Cameron is bored shitless so wants to return to politics -not just politics but a high profile cabinet position?
(Funny, I thought he had a shed...)

You get the impression that these people believe government exists to give them something to do with their time and their egos.

bellinisurge · 02/11/2018 06:35

@RedToothBrush. Thank you.

I think Corbyn is stoking the chaos because that's his planned path to electoral victory. There is no way enough people in enough constituencies will vote for Labour with him as leader unless the Tories implode and we are all desperate.
He's a scumbag. Even if he has an allotment prepper love for allotment gardeners.

Come on Mrsr8, let us know what you really think of 'Dave', I think you are just being polite here!
Is ANY government department ready for Brexit, or indeed, does anyone know what Brexit is supposed to be yet?

RedToothBrush · 02/11/2018 07:28

So how COULD Brexit Bad Boy Arron Banks afford to give £8m to the Leave campaign... and why DID Theresa May stop security services probing him before the referendum?

So Mr Javid wants a full house clean of the Home Office Closets to check for nasty skeletons. But Mrs May is resisting it. Cos she doesn't want her reputation or authority damaged.

And we've got this lovely little elephant who has crept into the Daily Mail.

Goodie.

But we can't talk about it cos its being investigated now.

At some point you start to wonder just how bad May is and just how incompetent at the Home Office she was.

Hi RTB
Do you think there is a 'grand plan' even larger than the UK Gov muppetry or is it an 'influence', probably from at least 2 outside influences just to cause as much disruption as possible and leave the UK to destroy itself?

bellinisurge · 02/11/2018 07:52

If the UK is busy tearing itself in its, it won't have any international weight with either the EU or the US.
While we aren't as ace as we used to be anyway, people notice if we aren't blah blah blah -ing internationally or if we have lost even more credibility.
It shows western style democracy = flabby weakness.

lonelyplanetmum · 02/11/2018 07:55

Did TM really stop security services probing Banks?

Why would she stop any investigation if it would exonerate someone. I suppose up until he defected to UKIP he'd been a big Tory donor.

We really are just as corrupt as anywhere else, if not more.

Just thought as a post script...as well as encouraging avoiding Wetherspoons, Dyson and Next.
everyone should be avoiding Banks's businesses. Although it will take a few lurkers to follow suit to make a dent in his previously estimated £250 million net worth.

If he is worth that much it seems feasible he funded his own political donations rather than murky Russian sources but it's looking increasingly as if we will get to find out more.

Anyway I'm avoiding :

Southern Rock Insurance Company.
GoSkippy.com
And bizarrely the Old Down Manor wedding venue

Hazardswan · 02/11/2018 07:59

The most shocking thing about this is that the daily mail is behaving like a newspaper Shock

Hopefully that'll wake a few people up...or not I've just bothered to check the comments Confused

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/11/2018 08:00

I feel thoroughly depressed by both global and national affairs this morning.

Why labour why are you not an effective opposition? why are so many of our politicians set on national suicide.

Rudd is coming back isn't she. That vile woman who allowed so many children to vanish.

SusanWalker · 02/11/2018 08:03

I have always believed that TM was a brexity brexiteer. I don't believe she supported remain at all.

As for DC, everyone hated the fucker before all this shitshow. He must be deluded if he thinks he can just waltz back in.

I'm quite a lot bored. Perhaps I can run the department for education. Then if I fuck it up I can just resign and build a shepherd's hut in my garden or edit the evening standard. Or perhaps you only get to do shit like that if you're rich and went to Eton.

MangoSplit · 02/11/2018 08:07

Place marking

Peregrina · 02/11/2018 08:08

Par for the course with Cameron, because he wanted to be PM because he thought he'd be good at it, not because he wanted to tackle the problems facing the country. I wonder if he would now want to try to bring the country together?

JustAnotherPoster00 · 02/11/2018 08:08

I'll throw my hat in as secretary of state Grin

borntobequiet · 02/11/2018 08:13

Thanks Red

Peregrina · 02/11/2018 08:14

So Mr Javid wants a full house clean of the Home Office Closets to check for nasty skeletons.

Or Mr Javid hopes that it will help a leadership bid. He's going to have things going against him with the party faithful, what with him being a Muslim, 'oh no, we didn't mean him, he's alright, but it's those others.'

MyBrexitIsIll · 02/11/2018 08:19

TM was bad news when she was at the HO.
She is still bad news.
How the current minister need an investigation to see all the really big holes in hrbsystem and how unfair it all is, I’m not sure tbh.
But I suppose that an enquiry looks impartial and therefore and has more weight to it.
