What do you think will happen over the next five years?

I think no shiny great new agreement will be made with the EU and we'll crash out without a deal, followed very quickly by a GE. We'll fall out with all our closest neighbors and it'll be all our own fault.Right wing press and public will continue to blame the EU for all out troubles.

Well, actually, I haven't a clue what will happen, the only thing I'm confident about is that the only person who will get what they hoped for out of Brexit is Putin.

I think the can will be continually kicked down the road. May will stand down prior to the next election and her successor will attempt to bury the Brexit corpse.

By 2022 the only people still advocating for Brexit will be right wing newspaper columnists.

I hope you're right, Ghost. I do find that scenario quite believable. Problem is, damage has already been done and will continue to be done by the Brexit process, whether it gets completed or not.

Thanks Hasen I’ll check it out.

If negotiations break down completely and acrimoniously and we crash out without a deal it is absolutely possible that supply chains could be very severely affected.

We take supermarkets fully stocked with fresh produce trucked and flown in 24/7/365 from the EU so completely for granted that we can’t even imagine what would happen if that stopped overnight.....

And I hope the electorate never forgive the Tories for this

One small positive is that David Cameron has apparently gone into hiding out of "concerns for his personal safety".

I think the government is expecting trouble because they've started cosy-ing up to the police.

I'm thinking of putting barbed wire around my allotment and getting chickens. Only half joking.

I'm saving as much money as I can to try to pay off as much of the mortgage as I can. I've cut back on all unnecessary spending. I really need a new car and a new kitchen but I'm just going to have to live with what we've got. I also plan to stock pile some food at some point, maybe about September I'll start. Not even joking! Really worried about how bad it could get.

Doesn't some of out power come from France? We have a wood burner so won't freeze but our heating is oil, plan to keep the tank topped up every month.

At least the Gov have a plan (or not!)

I wonder what DD did with the 'Doomsday' no deal Brexit reports? Do you think he just sent the civil servants away and told them to come up with something (fake) more positive?

I don't think BINO will happen. There's no parliamentary majority for it. The ERG won't vote for it, and Labour won't vote for it because they want a general election.

I think there will be a general election, and minority Corbyn government. The country will be in utter chaos. Any sensible labour party would then try and come to some kind of EEA associate deal with EU to repair the damage (although I'm not sure how that would work). But Corbyn isn't sensible and genuinely hates the EU. They'll talk about trade deals instead, and fail to get any within 5 years (as they take a decade) while the country deteriorates, and they won't be able to fund any of their half decent policies. The right wing will become hugely empowered. The government will collapse and we'll end up with the tories again with a Rees Mogg type as leader.

By this time, we won't be able to fund the NHS and welfare. NHS will be sold off and will be a private insurance system like the US. Welfare will become mainly food stamps. There will be mass unemployment and whole sections of the country will become post-industrial wastelands with large parts of our service sector also gone. Inflation will be out of control, and even affluent parts of the middle class will struggle with price increases.

Look at the US now, that's us in 5 years.
