So many leavers insist that immigration was not among the reasons they voted leave. So why is ending FOM at the top of the DM's wish list?

Was brexit all about immigration after all?

I mean, if you voted leave because you don't like they way the EU is run, you have concerns about heavy-handedness & bloated bureaucracy, fair enough. Now that you know that we'll be coming out of the single market & ending FOM, are you still happy with the way things are going?

It's about reducing net immigration (and therefore future emigration prospects for uk nationals of all ages) down to the tens of thousands. It's about building a fortress and locking us all in it. Nice.

It's about looking inwards and backwards, into a fictional, comfortable, homogenous past. May is just the right sort of combination of vicar's daughter and grammar school girl to achieve this.
