Westminster: Brexit is the hard right's weapon of mass distraction

The fervour and divisions over Brexit have suspended normal party politics.

The staggering incompetence & unsuitability of Corbyn as a leader, together with the resulting impotence of Labour has removed the normal checks & balances in UK politics.
There is a vaccum where the Official Opposition should be, so Theresa May is under pressure only from her right.

I fear Thereas May and the Tory rightwing are taking advantage of Brexit to complete the destruction of the post-WW2 social contract and the welfare state.

Meanwhile, the constraints of civilised discourse have been loosened and those with racist or social Darwinist views now feel free to spout their poison openly.

Zoe Williams:
"Behind a smokescreen of bogus patriotism, ideologically driven cuts to the NHS and all our public services are unpicking the bonds of nationhood"

www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2017/mar/05/brexit-theresa-may-falklands-war-nhs-cuts

"We should be marching against the crisis in adult social care, the closure of care homes, the systematic exploitation of carers, the £4.6bn cut from social care budgets this decade.
We should be .... asking:

“What exactly is the plan, if we’ve decided we can no longer afford to care for the elderly and the disabled?
What do we do with them instead?”

"We should be marching against cuts in education funding"

"Every morning we wake up to someone on the radio explaining, despairingly, that you can’t fix the hospital bed crisis until social care is fixed, and you can’t fix that until council tax brings in more, and it can’t bring in more because wages are too low."

"But when everything breaks at the same time, that is not a coincidence: it is a plan.

As surely as Margaret Thatcher had an economic plan on employment, rights, industry and wages,
this century’s Conservatives have a plan on public services, which is to smash them beyond all recognition."

lala its more complicated than that.
You start paying NCI right form the start unless you ask for an exemption for small earnings. That's class2 contribution.
I'm not sure where the BBC is finding their idea it will affect people earning more than £16k. I'm earning less than that and have paid class 4 NCI. The class 4 is the one that has gone up.

YY about self employment being used as a way to get cheap labour with little protection.
THIS is what needs to be tackled.
I'm really wondering how much money the Treasury is thinking about getting wth that increase.

Because all Scottish people are drunks??

RedAndYellowPeppers · 08/03/2017 17:16

Hmm, would you really think from ONE interview that all people in the EU are like that and that's why it's a great idea or leave the EU? Really??

That MEP has already made the headlines btw by having a similar attitude in the EU Parliament. He was quickly put back into place and there are talks about how to tackle such misogynist behaviour.
It's also worth noting that, when they interviewed him, they mist have known that he would say things Ike this. So why did they give him any audience Confused???

Thegruffalowswife · 08/03/2017 17:17

Ok Grin

I was just saying that if you voted to stay in the eu... that's what you are voting for Grin

Thegruffalowswife · 08/03/2017 17:18

RedAndYellowPeppers · 08/03/2017 17:21

What do you mean JC is the same? You mean just as misogyn and racist?? REally?

Fwiw, no one in The uk has voted for or against him so no we wouldn't have voted for 'that' by voting Remain.
People in Poland who voted for him did vote for that though :(

HashiAsLarry · 08/03/2017 17:21

Let's all heed prettys advice. This isn't a genuine person here for informed matters, so lets ignore now.

Peregrina · 08/03/2017 17:22

Just about to comment that the trolls are out again. Ignore, ignore. Sensible Leavers - by all means post, your opinions are valuable, even if many of us don't agree with them.

Misogynistic bollocks

She doesn't behave how you think ladies should?

Perhaps she should keep her eyes down when talking to a man?

Ffs

RedAndYellowPeppers · 08/03/2017 17:23

You mean he is less than everyone else. Shock

Wow.... Resorting to insults then... just as bad as that Polish MEP.
I didn't think there was any need to go that low TBH.

Thegruffalowswife · 08/03/2017 17:23

Ok... you told me what you thought of her... I replied with what I thought. Can't see why there is a problem Grin

Thegruffalowswife · 08/03/2017 17:24

She doesn't behave the way a man should either.

RedAndYellowPeppers · 08/03/2017 17:24

Badders unfortunately that information isn't a troll issue.
It has happened in the EU Parliament too. And it's appalling.

Noting to do with how the EU is run or what it means though (and I am NOT engaging in that any further)

RedAndYellowPeppers · 08/03/2017 17:25

Yawn.

Your posts don't make sense gruffalo
