To think we NEED immigration

Our population is increasing because people are living longer. Our birth rate is very low and our population would plummet without migration in ten years time. Our death rate is increasing as the baby boomers get older. We need enough people to financially support all the extra pensioners who are too old to work.

The problem our country has is that far too many people want to live near London. The U.K. has space, but not in the south east. We need to encourage more people to move to less densely populated parts of Wales, Scotland, north west, north east England. We need to encourage more employment in these areas.

Jamie, it's interesting that it took some time away for them to get perspective on it. But then I guess Australia is often sold as the 'promised land' of egalitarianism, fairness and opportunity, which doesn't really match up to the reality.

I love and miss my home country, but it has major issues and is often a very divided country socially and politically.

I've already pointed out that Scotland needs more immigration. It has a very low population density (iirc, the lowest in Europe), despite a large part of its land mass (the mainland at least) being habitable if remote

Olenna Allowing scam institutions to set themselves up as education providers was a government cock up that some shysters made a lot of money from. Then claiming you had reduced non EU immigration when what you actually did was to correct your own mistake that led to the increase in the first place is to say the least disingenuous. It also means that more layers of bureaucracy have been imposed for overseas students coming here genuinely to study, and that is resented, and seen as the opposite of welcoming.

Less than 5% of Britian is developed we're not full, not anywhere close. We need immigration at all levels. In the area we live we are struggling for staff as virtually 0% unemployment. We need to cut benefits for the English and get the lazy cunts off there arse.

We live in a very sad country currently full of idiots who don't seem to understand simple economics.

Still wondering who's going to wipe all the old people arses if we kick out all the low skilled immigrants.
