I've got it. Leadsom is the UK's Sarah Palin.

Minimal intellect, maximum unpleasant rhetoric, no real achievements to speak of, financially lacking in transparency and, apparently, with a flexible approach to the truth. Although to be fair to Sarah Palin I'm not sure she ever accused a journalist of "gutter journalism" for reporting her own remarks verbatim.

So depressing.

She is! Tea Party politics reaches the UK Hmm

I've said this already on another thread - but the gutter journalism comment is just so outrageous. It absolutely was nothing like gutter journalism - and she should familiarise herself with the people who testified in the Leveson Inquiry to find out about real gutter journalism.

Also, note how she is furiously back-pedalling on her "stake in the future of the country' comments. Apparently, everybody does have an equal stake after all. Not just mothers. Hmm.

SnowBells · 10/07/2016 01:39

I always thought she was a Tea Party nutjob.

Kummerspeck · 10/07/2016 01:56

Good point.

I will never be able to unsee that now.

antimatter · 10/07/2016 02:27

R4 today had interesting program commenting on her CV and how many lies about her "achievements" she's already produced.
I have no idea why would anyone vote for her!

RedToothBrush · 10/07/2016 08:57

Last night an article was published by the Guardian which drew a direct link back to the Tea Party...

Mistigri · 10/07/2016 11:04

She certainly has a lot of American support on social media. Along with kippers and (weirdly) labour leavers.

RedToothBrush · 10/07/2016 12:38

why is it weird Mistigri?

Leave had a lot of socialist nationalism.

HeadDreamer · 10/07/2016 12:55

I think she's a higher achiever than Palin. We know she over sold her achievements at Barclays and Invesco. But merely getting a middle management job there means she isn't that stupid. In fact if she isn't going for PM, but a poster on MN, she would be classed as a successful city professional.

I'm not sure what Palin's achievement is outside of politics. But tbh, she still was elected as govenor of Alaska.

Mistigri · 10/07/2016 13:02

redtoothbrush sure, but Labour voters supporting a neoliberal candidate who wants to roll back employment rights, maternity leave etc? I saw one person posting in support of her whose timeline was otherwise full of trade union activism. That is mind-blowingly weird.

Mistigri · 10/07/2016 13:07

But merely getting a middle management job there means she isn't that stupid.

I don't think she's stupid. She is however extremely well connected, which probably played a role in her career advancement.

TomHiddlestonsDignity · 10/07/2016 23:10

But can she see Russia from her house?

SnowBells · 11/07/2016 08:34

Why does ANYONE in this day and age want to promote nationalism?!?

freshmint · 11/07/2016 18:35

Bye bye Andrea Palin. We won't miss you.
I expect she didn't want to release her tax returns
