also known as a Euro Army!
On 22 June 2016, the European Parliament, Council and Commission reached an agreement on the Commission's proposal on a European Border and Coast Guard. The agreement was endorsed by the Council on 23 June 2016.
Today's approval by the European Parliament will be followed by a final vote on technical modifications resulting from a legal-linguistic revision. This will allow the Council to adopt the final text of the proposal.

Right so anyone know the procedural next step.
Oh and before we hear the old veto argument... we have been told on another thread -
Not if they extend the competencies to defence, according to someone who was seconded to the EUMS

Also anyone consider what veto was applied when the 90% haircut was applied to to Cypriot savers (yep - none)

bk, can I just ask, are you confusing NATO with this mythical Euro army? Because as has been said - NATO has nothing to do with the EU, and we will still belong to NATO after/if we leave the EU.

No, not confused. It's not mythical

a) First the intention for the euro army is unequivocal.

The European Union needs its own army to face up to Russia and other threats, as well as to restore the bloc’s standing around the world, EU Commission President

Re Nato Vs Euro army
"I believe the primary purpose of the drive for a European Army is far more political than military. After all statehood is symbolised by possession of armed forces. In its push for greater political, social and economic union towards its aim of a United States of Europe, Brussels sees an army as being an essential accessory.
Beware NATO; the European Union is out on manoeuvres with its nascent so-called demands for an EU Army. I for one will utterly resist such siren calls. "

The EU was formed as an alliance to prevent war

The USA was behind the development of the EU.

The European Union always was a CIA project, as Brexiteers discover (Telegraph)

"The European Union always was an American project."

"It was Washington that drove European integration in the late 1940s, and funded it covertly under the Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, and Nixon administrations."

Euro-federalists financed by US spy chiefs (Telegraph)

"DECLASSIFIED American government documents show that the US intelligence community ran a campaign in the Fifties and Sixties to build momentum for a united Europe. It funded and directed the European federalist movement."

American Committee on United Europe (Wikipedia)

"The American Committee on United Europe (ACUE), founded in 1948, was an American organization which sought to counter the Communist threat in Europe by promoting European political integration."

"A memo from the European section" (part of the US government) "dated June 11, 1965, advises the vice-president of the European Economic Community, Robert Marjolin, to pursue monetary union by stealth. It recommends suppressing debate until the point at which "adoption of such proposals would become virtually inescapable".

WidowWadman I don't need your permission or approval for anything.

Truth is, we are getting serious signals that we are getting into a another significant war. The people of europe have the power to change this if they aren't in denial. The arms trade are the only winners in this.

The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing.
