Even the stuff about fish was bullshit

Yet another Brexit myth to be debunked. Brexit will not allow us to "take back our fish".

Sorry, know this is boring but I argued for ages about sodding fish with one of those fanatical Brexiters who has now oddly disappeared from MN. And this issue also turns out to be crap, just like the extra £350m for the NHS.

It's our government that allows people to deliberately hoard allowances and sell them on for profit, squeezing out small scale fishermen.
So now we can properly hold them to account,at last.
No more weaselling out of stuff by blaming Europe , it's the best thing that could have happened.

Farmers- I remember a couple of years ago the local paper printed the highest local earners from Europe subsidies. It was a cattle dealer who got over a million!!!
Sensible!

PausingFlatly · 03/07/2016 07:28

Oh give over with the meaningless slogans.

"Hold them to account"?

You got to vote for the UK government which did this. What sort of increased "holding to account" are you expecting?

If you were daft enough to believe all the EU-blaming weaselling before and let the UK govt off the hook, then more fool you. Not all of us were that gullible.

But I can assure you the EU-blaming hasn't ended, and will never end.

A certain sort of politician NEEDS a scapegoat. Everything will ALWAYS be someone else's fault. When we're negotiating fisheries-management quotas in competition with the EU instead of as part of it, this will still be the fault of the evil, evil EU. When the UK govt hands the quotas to big business, that will be the fault of the evil, evil EU. When fish don't hurl themselves on the quayside, that will etc etc.

Oh dear we've lost Spin, guess they had to get back to running Gove's leadership campaign.

Fabulous title op. Great title for someone's 'how it all went wrong' text...

Mistigri · 03/07/2016 22:15

Beaky the fish farce was mainly a kipper thing wasn't it? (Pun inevitable). Didn't Arron Banks bankroll the Thames protest? I'd hazard a guess he is also the £££ behind any continuing astroturfing, as the official leave campaign spin team seems to have disappeared.

BeakyMinder · 04/07/2016 06:57

I think you're right judging by the two Leadsom threads - it's gotta be Banks - I mean how else are they going to spend the million quid bankrolling her campaign?

I'm feeling more and more pissed off about this. Can't MNHQ do something about it?

Doubt it beaky because it is very difficult to distinguish between the genuinely politically engaged and the astroturfers.
