Considering the massive u-turns on policies and what looks like Borris going for an EEA type deal, the ruining of both of the main parties, this seems more like a coup than democracy!

All the racism minimizing posts I see on social media, the shaming "how dare the lazy young question democracy fought in world war" unpatriotic stuff.

I wasn't the one who voted to stick a cluster bomb under the economy without an exit route. I believe this is the wrong decision for Britain and Europe and reserve my right to be angry, and fight it. Because that's how democracy works.

We have a parliamentary democracy not a direct direct democracy, which is why referenda are not legally binding. This is a right wing coup.

I do find it hugely hypocritical that remainers are being told to "get over it" and accept things when Farage's entire career was based on doing the precise opposite. Ok for anti-EUers to never "get over it", but for some reason pro-EUers should, and immediately?

That parallel doesn't apply. Farage was nothing to do with the Leave campaign and doesn't represent Leave voters in general. If Remain had won, of course they'd be declaring the result final, and many would be saying the Leave side should "get over it".

YANBU. This whole sentiment of "stop being cross and upset now" REALLY pisses me off. As long as I remain civil, I can be as fucked off as I want, for as long as I want about what is happening to my country! You could also argue that pushing ahead with something that 48% of the nation don't want, isn't exactly a shining beacon of democracy!

Doctor I think what is being said is that he wasn't part of the official campaign.

What he did was off his own bat.

DoctoraNova Farage had no involvement with the official Leave campaign (Vote Leave) and they categorically distanced themselves from UKIP, particularly regarding that awful poster.

UKIP only got 12.6% of the vote in last year's general elction, and have just 1 MP (not Farage). The amount of media coverage he was given during the refendum campaigns was way out of proportion. He was wheeled out repeatedly. Unfortunately, this substantially reduced coverage for the sensible, moderate voices on the Leave side, and gave the false impression that Farage had some kind of official role in the Leave campaign. He didn't.

That thing about 'fought in the war' ... can surely only apply to people over 87 (a 16yo in 1945 would be 87 now, yes?).

I've only heard one 94 yo on the radio who actually served in the war, and he voted Remain. I know my parents and ILs were very much in favour of the peace and prosperity brought about by the EU - but they,like most of those who did defend our nation against facism are gone.

Many of us over a certain age have (or had) grandparents/parents who served in the war, or who were too young to do so but still remember it. Even if these people are no longer with us, we've heard their experiences first hand.

Itinery - UKIP 'only' got 12.6% of the vote in the GE, yes, but the Tories 'only' got 37%. To put that in perspective, UKIP needed 331x as many votes as the Tories for the same number of seats. As a remain voter, I find this electoral system that we've taken back our democracy for rather worryingly undemocratic.

The wilfully ignored & minimised disenfranchised & disadvantaged in this country were fed up of being metaphorically patted on the head by the self-identified benevolent plastic socialists.

If this was a coup, then kudos to the British people by doing it non-violently, with just marks on bits of paper.
