Nicola Sturgeon says she will veto Brexit

Nicola Sturgeon says she will use the Scottish Parliament to try & veto the UK leaving the EU!!! Someone should tell her the Scottish Parliament has no such power & that Westminster control if Scotland ever has a 2nd Independence referendum. Time to dissolve the Scottish Parliament?

She is just doing crazy talk and I'm losing respect for her, the threat she used about talking to Sadiq Khan made me look at her in a differnt light.

She doesn't have the power to do that, no matter how much she might want to.

Let her get on with it if she thinks she can pull it off.

Shame I see where she is coming from but scottish parliament doesn't have that kind of control...I think a second independence referendum will be triggered and I would certainly vote for independence now if I was lucky enough to live in Scotland.

Go Nicola. I hope she can do it. Our only hope to save the UK and the City of London.

Not everyone is scotland wants to be in the eu or independent from the uk. A lot of people i know who voted leave at the last scottish referendum will vote stay this time.

I can see her point and share her feelings, but Scotland voted to remain in the UK and the U.K. Has voted to leave the EU. Not sure she can announce Scotland will leave.

She has been elected to the Scottish Government to look after the affairs of the Scottish people. Scotland voted remain.

She would not be doing her job if she just ignored that result and didn't do what she can to protect the interests of her electorate.

Northern Ireland should be watching with interest too.

Actually, she may have a case. Paragraphs 70 and 71 of House of Lords European Committee Report, May 2016 seem to suggest that all the devolved parliaments would have to vote to agree to Brexit in order to comply with European law.

Well she obviously has to put Scotland's interests first however she doesn't have a veto, per se, so it sounds odd. Plus the EU don't support Scottish seperatism because they don't want the same issues to flair up in Spain.

It's absolute craziness that people who vote for the rights to vote then go through every bit of legislation and loop hole to counter act the way the majority voted.

It just goes to show that actually democracy doesn't matter to a lot of people of it isn't in there intrests

Scotland is a country in it's own right. The majority there voted to remain. If democracy matters to you so much then surely you see it is undemocratic for the Scottish people to be pulled out of the EU despite the democratic vote.

No-one in Scotland is saying that England should stay in (although I know many English that are!). Ms Sturgeon is doing her job to look after the democratic rights of the people that elected her.

Spain is a different issue. Catalonia is not a separate country.

You've got to admire her balls. Better than cut and run Cameron .

So if I understand, what that means is:

• UK government invokes Article 50, OR Westminster votes to mandate Government to invoke Article 50.

• This triggers a vote in the Scottish Parliament on whether to give their consent to a repeal of the European Communities Act.

• Scottish Parliament votes against the repeal.

• Sturgeon calls for indyref2, and/or obtains massive concessions from Westminster in a gigantic constitutional overhaul.
