Nations already asking for free trade deals with the UK

Good news already, who else should we be pursuing deals with now we can make our own trade deals

Can these talks begin until you activate the leave process?? I thought Gove and Johnson etc were all talking about "no rush no rush" to start the process as DC has now given them some breathing room?

Surely talks can start. Nothing with anyone is going to be an overnight decision.

EU seems to be saying that it's something the new PM should do, so it sounds as if they are looking for later this year. They haven't actually specified though, beyond something that roughly paraphrases as 'you do have to get this moving'

But ultimately, it's up to the UK government to decide the timing. The EU doesn't get to choose.

We already trade with Ghana so the trade agreement along with about 50 others will need to be replaced. Trade deals are usually negotiated in private & depend on the terms. It's one thing countries wanting trade deals to access Britain’s markets & quite another them being interested in allowing Britain free access to theirs.

Canada's population/market is about 35m & Ghana's 25m so relatively small compared to the EU with a market of 435m.

Apparently a German Ministry of Finance strategy paper talks of making the UK an associated partner of the EU - whatever that means. Probably involves free movement of goods as long as we comply with EU product liability and consumer protection laws. People and services, not so sure.

If we stay in the EEA, then free movement of goods services and people can continue. If UK can adopt the same terms as Switzerland, then it can be free movement of goods and services.

The EU was never the only game in town for European trade.
