Interesting article Claig. With an ageing population and 40-50% youth unemployment in Southern Europe you do wonder what Juncker's plan is to get growth going again and away debt reduced. The whole thing is a mess.

What did he say that for just a few days before the vote? Has he been at the sauce again or something altogether more malevolent? Damn, I need to stop seeing ulterior motives in everything. They just make it so easy!

I think he said it last year and the political class are trying to keep what he said quiet. When asked they are probably all saying "no comment".

No, I googled Juncker to see if he was former Goldman Sachs like so many of the others, but he isn't. However, that article came up and appears to have been kept quiet by lots on the Remain side.

The man is an absolute liability even if he isn't GS. What possessed anyone to shoehorn him into that position, we'll never know. He is quite entertaining, though, in a Bob Geldof/Gordon Brown's lovechild-type way.

Just been thinking about this further. How bad do things have to get before people will listen, as in, what would the President of the European Commission have to say before people think, "Crikey, that's pretty bad". It's something that's been fascinating to me throughout this whole thing. Some pretty high-up people actually tell us to our fsces that they lie, cheat, ignore, disparage and (some) people still ignore it. What's the motivation for this?
