Will Scotland become independent in the event of Brexit?

Hi,

I wondered if any Scottish residents on here have a view about whether Scotland would push for independence in the event of a Brexit vote?

It seems to me that Scotland would not want to take on the Euro, which they would have to do to enter the EU as an independent country.

Also, their oil revenues have reduced markedly since the IndyRef, so possibly independence is a less attractive option now.

I saw a poll recently that said that 55% of resident Scots wouldn't even want another IndyRef, and that 55% would still vote No, if there was one.

I wondered if people on here had strong views one way or the other?

Not at the moment, and The SNP know it!

It will never happen because it is almost impossible for the SNP to get a 2nd vote. Say Scotland vote to stay & the vote is to leave, the SNP don't have a majority to call a vote & even if they did e.g. with Greens Westminster have to approve the vote or it is invalid, Labour & the Tories are not going to give them another vote & lets say they did Scots won't vote for independence

If Scotland votes Remain and the overall vote is Leave, then there'll be another Scottish referendum within three years.

And the powers that want Britain out of the EU won't care if Scotland goes - they've always considered them to be a burden.

A vote result in this dynamic has every potential to break up the Union.

There might be a lot of grumping, but I doubt there'll be another independence referendum any time soon even with a Leave result. Most people don't want it, and even the SNP are realising it wouldn't go well.
