Penny Mordaunt, the armed forces minister, said the UK “does not” have a veto over the new membership of states such as Turkey – despite it being a key part of the Treaty of the European Union.

So Brexiters can we put turkey to bed now, and even if Europes 'hell bent' on giving them access we can only veto it from being in Europe. If you want a Brexit deal with Europe like Norway you dont get a vote - simples, and you also have free movement of labour.

Turkey will absolutely not join the EU this year or next year or any time soon. Milly, your post suggests that you have no idea what the process of a country joining the EU actually entails and how (thankfully!) very, very little progress has been made regarding a possible Turkish membership since 2006.

Making out that the process is above board ignores a great deal of history where countries have been allowed in despite not nearly meeting the requirements.

There is no way Cameron would veto Turkey, indeed be has described himself as their biggest advocate.

Maybe Penny confused won't with can't though the effect is the same either way. Get the referendum over with and Turkey will join with Camerons full approval.

Kittens. Have you listened to David Cameron's speech in Banana brains post above ^^

As I said before Turkey is in a good bargaining position. Who knows what the future holds exactly. Did you know three years ago that Migrants would be walking up Europe enmasse. Did you foresee Trump?

No, it doesn't confused with Yes, it does

No confused with Yes

We haven't confused with we have

If she gets confused that easily, do you think she is of sound enough mind for parliament.

Or a game. I know this game. You say the opposite to what you mean. Or else she gets terribly confused and if you asked if her name was Penny, she'd say no. If you asked her if it was John, she'd say yes.

Or she was lying.
