Have you looked at the soapkitchen website? They have great recipies for free and sell all the stuff. I've not made shampoo etc yet but I made some lovely bath bombs and bath melts at Christmas. The melts are really lovely and just a mixture of almond oil and cocoa butter so really simple. I mixed some oats in and tied them up in a muslin bag like they do in lush, they are great for ds and his excema.

If its for gifts then its not flash enough but I use basic hemp seed oil as a moisturiser
its lovely not greasy and plant based so good for your skin. I cook with it too

Do a search for the oil cleansing method.

here for shampooing hair using bicarb and vinegar. My straight fine hair (prone to stringiness) is feeling lovely -light and clean. You may have a period of greasiness at first for a few weeks.

Also ditto the oil cleansing method, have been doing this for 6 months - superb. I am now moisturising too with olive oil (apparently Sophia Loren does too!).

i use olive oil to wash my face (when I remember) using the oil cleansing method that seagullsrule and navelgazer mention. Lovely with only a few drops of your favourite essential oils in.

A tub of sea salt, olive/sunflower oil and a few more drops of essential oils is a great body scrub and far far cheaper than the expensive Sanctuary or Origins branded ones!

Bathbombs are fun and easy to make

I haven't tried my own shampoo so will be watching this thread with interest!

James Wong's Grow Your Own Drugs book is quite good for make it yourself stuff. I've made the odd thing from the tv series, my DH bought me the book for my birthday, my skins started reacting oddly to things I wouldn't normally react to, so going to try some after this baby arrives.

I've made handcream in the past using our beeswax, it smelled divine. Almond Oil, Glycerin and beeswax, I think I added some geranium oil to one batch.
