I was about to buy what I thought a humane trap, my plan was to catch him and release him elsewhere.

We have tried living with him but he is now making huge molehills all over our lawn. The estate manager has offered to set traps but these will kill the mole and as he was here first i think that is mean.

I was going to get something like this but apparantly the Guild of Molecatchers ( what an organisation!!) say that I will end up killing him through stress.

Has anyone else managed to humanely get rid of a mole?

have you spoken to the RSPCA or your local vet for advice. They may know of some humane ways to solve your problem

Hope you get it sorted before the little fur ball gets hurt

Bless!!

pour water down the hole and wait for him to pop up, have a welly or something ready as they can be vicious!

How do I know which hole, we are talking double figures?

RSPCA is a good idea

I caught one in a box as a child - just popped up and I got it in an old ice cream tub.
Apparently if you put those windmills on sticks in the ground they vibrate and the moles don't like it. (?)

littlefrog dd has been camped out in the garden trying to catch it.

Windmills? I may have some of those.

DH carefully buried a trap in one of our mole runs. The mole simply dug round it!

So then he put in sonic vibrator thingys - when they first went in we saw the earth move. At this point if DH had had thick gloves on he could have caught the mole...unfortunately he had the mallet in his hand ready to drive another hole . But at least this suggests that unexpected disturbance of this nature really might cause the critter to surface.

The vibrator things seem to have worked somewhat in moving the moles out of the lawn into the flowerbed so they may be worth trying anyway.
