yup, that's right, our public library will lend you an energy monitor. We ahve had ours for 2 days now and it's great, it really shows you what you are using and what appliances make a difference. The one they have is called 'eco-eye'. I was hesitating about buying one, but having tried one out I would say worth it.
I only found out about it by accident, it hasn't been very well promoted, so worth going and asking if your library has them too.
And good to use the public library anyway!
