Hi me again - does anyone have any suggestions for good glass storage food containers for the fridge/freezer? I've been reading a book about how plastic containers can leach chemicals into your food so looking for alternatives

I bought some from Ikea but don't know if they still sell them. They have a plastic lid but the food doesn't usually touch the lid.

we have an ikea here, I'll look in the week. Can you freeze food in them?

Yes.

Lakeland had some good glass preserving jars (1/2 litre and 1 litre) that have a glass top with a rubber seal that lock down with a wire clip here.

Pyrex sells them.

i bought some very similar to those yesterday in wilkinsons for about a tenth of the price. They had several sizes

LOL at the Lakeland ones. ASDA has the same Kilner jars for two quid each (1 ltr).

Similar to what? The Lakeland or the Pyrex?

LyraSilvertongue · 06/09/2009 22:29

Martha, the Lakeland ones are a pack of 6, so not much more expensive than the Asda ones.

MarthaFarquhar · 06/09/2009 22:30

That makes sense - I did think that was hilariously expensive for a jam jar.
