recycling cards

Hi all - I know just after Christmas lots of high street stores offer to recycle cards but was wondering where the best place for them is at any other time of the year (are there charities that do things with them or should I just shove them out in our paper recycling box?). Whilst nesting I have come across 2 years worth of xmas cards all bagged up and ready to go and have a mountain of birthday cards etc. At one stage in life was going to do useful things with them like turn them into my own cards but with toddler and now twins on the way it just ain't going to happen . What does anyone else do?

I cut the really nice ones (birthday and christmas) into tags(sometimes with fancy scissors, some just cut straight down the fold), punch a hole and add some coloured thread. If left big it's easier for ds to write on. You could do a load and bag them up in batches to sell at say the playgroup christmas fair or similar.

I give the rest to our local hospital who transform them into new cards to sell. if you pop them into the boxes outside say tescos they only get pulped into new paper.
although they plant tree for every so many they have.

If it's got a nice picture on the front, I cut off the back and use it as a postcard for writing Thank You letters.

oh yes I also do that

I do what furball does, and give the rest to the chuch craft group - who cut them up and use them for making cards, they then recycle the scraps.
